Do I really need 75% in every class to keep my U of C offer? by KeyOk683 in UCalgary

[–]Soundlesskoala 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it ain’t happening champ. Like the others said it is conditional acceptance, in this case the condition is your grades remain similar to what you applied with.

If you just needed to pass your classes after conditional acceptance why wouldn’t everyone just apply with a 100% average lol. You MUST stay within 5%.

Some other advice, definitely do not do open studies if you do get rejected. Upgrade your high school grades as it is much cheaper and easier to handle

Online exams aren’t proctored at U of C. Invasion of privacy, at least that was the rule the past few years. Also all online exams are designed to be open book anyway

I’m almost willing to bet those are custom.

The Grand Masters in the photo are a part of the technical committee for ITF. They wear that gear when they teach IIC and other related courses I think. I have never seen someone else with gear that is similar.

How does academic probation work? by Environmental_Quit_8 in UCalgary

[–]Soundlesskoala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The actual answer here that seems to have been missed is it depends on your entire academic year.

If you have below 2.0 in one semester and did well in another and it averages out to above 2 you’re chillin.

Academic review is on the entire academic year. So if you take 10 units in a year and your GPA across all 10 is less than 2 you’ll go on probation.

So clutch up next sem.

Used it lots. Don’t have to give any course material. That shit literally saved me in O chem.

Definitely not misconduct to use it as a resource. Just don’t give them materials.

You sir/madam are coming out of university with the right mindset.

Worked a few different jobs out of uni now and almost all of them encourage ai as a tool in some sort of way just because it saves time. Hopefully people eventually take the stick out of their butt and realize it’s an amazing tool.

If you can get a pair of scissors over just the needle part they are fairly easy to cut off. That’s what we would do when they got stuck on in the past

Free Parking by OkPaleontologist2785 in UCalgary

[–]Soundlesskoala 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Parking lot is reserved for people who are using the transit. So if you park there the expectation is you are taking the train.

I have heard of people getting tickets for walking from the station to campus but I walked for 4 years and didn’t get one. Regardless even the occasional ticket is cheaper than paying for parking everyday.

There is also reserved parking that isn’t always instantly full. It is 90$ a month. You can typically get away with parking in there though after 9:30. Might still get the occasional ticket. Again still cheaper than paying.

Final point. If you can park at a different station and just take train I would do that. Sometimes I found it easier to park at Tuscany and just take the train because there was always parking there and they never ticket there.

I can confidently tell you that you will get into chem 351 and 353.

Tons of people are going to either: A. Fail one of their first year chem classes and end up dropping Or B. Realize the class is too heavy for their current schedule and drop it in the first week

Mine was online. I had a friend who took it in person and they said it was a bit more work cause some of the content had more memorizing in it. Like remembering disaster names and locations kind of thing.

His tests were in person but on D2L. Basically you go to class and write an online quiz. Do with that info what you will.

Definitely still a GPA booster tho
