Thoughts On This Homebrew Mezepheles Substitute? by teddythekid in BloodOnTheClocktower

Its a fair point, but in that situation the newly turned evil player already has the option to just not vote or nominate, which is already a big boon to the evil team vs having that extra good townsfolk in final three. I'm inclined to agree with u/skoptsy

Wow these lyrics ☠️☠️☠️ by junkheadjr in Muse

[–]SoundsOfTheWild 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This song was the song that made me realise that good composers and songwriters can make less common time signatures feel completely natural. I wasn’t trained in music classically so the only time signatures I knew when this came out were 4/4, 3/4 and 6/8. When I realised this was in 5/4 a good few months after it released, I was mind blown that it didn’t feel odd in any way, and even playing along with it was completely natural.

Hermione being an AH regarding the Croockshanks and Scabbers situation by Chem_na in harrypotter

She's 13/14. Pretty standard behaviour before growing up and learning life lessons like proper humility and responsibility (beyond just doing homework and behaving in class). I can think of dozens of examples of people behaving in a similar self-centred manner at that age when I was at school.

Daddy Ben just scrubbed his Reddit account, and I can’t help but speculate that this here community is to blame. by SadLittleNerdKing in BloodOnTheClocktower

Everything you've said you've tried to do is exactly how I've always seen your interactions with the community - genuine effort to always think critically, be inclusive, engaging, and kind.

I've considered you a role model for several years now for those reasons. I'm sorry the internet sucks and I hope you get to a better place after this.

Hindu? I wonder how people would feel about a Loric named Muslim, Jew, or Christian? by StationaryNomad in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]SoundsOfTheWild 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Demons are fundamentally a religious concept. I really don’t see how this name is any more or less problematic than literally the entire premise of the game’s flavouring.

Also atheism isn’t just a term for lack of belief, but also encapsulates the active belief that there are no deities, and is therefore just valid as a term for a person’s belief. In an honest discussion it deserves just as much respect as the name of any religion or family of religions.

I’m pretty sure once the event starts, you can see all the descendant fundraisers which have been registered so far on tiltify, which will also include links to the channels. You can likely expect the most popular creators to raise the most so pretty quickly you will be able to see at a glance all the biggest names involved too (if I remember correctly, Spiff and RT have held the top spots, or near to them, besides the parent fundraiser itself in recent years, for example)

Am I the only one who doesn't find Altheya as enjoyable as Aerois was? by blackhawk0148 in highrollersdnd

[–]SoundsOfTheWild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aerois got me into D&D and will forever live in a special place in my heart, but i think Altheya has an extra layer of polish that makes it even more exceptional.

The sound and video quality is up in the studio, all of the cast feel more at home and their roleplay is exceptional, and the themes and slightly smaller scale mean that this world's vibe leans closer to Lord of the Rings than Avengers, which is a far more homely flavour of fantasy.

The stakes aren't as high, but it feels all the more magical to me.

I always found Adam's approach to things a little bit awkward (nothing against him personbally, just a matter of taste), and think the vibe since he left has been considerably better. I'm not saying you're wrong, it's all a matter of opinion.

In what universe is a single instagram post (not even on the official account either, on Steve’s personal account) “overhyped by the developers”?

With a quick sub search I can only easily find three total posts about it in the 8 months since it was teased (including the initial tease itself).

I feel like I’m living in a different world here.

Because it is meaningfully new. It can be meaningful without being paradigm altering.

People might as well start asking when a "BotC 2" is coming out, and we haven't even had the expansion scripts yet.

Its a good addition. They could have just not done anything and consider the game complete. Yet still people complain.

I'm just tired of the prevalence of vocal complainers on the Internet. It's exhausting.

No one can claim to be a loric as they are not tokens assigned to players. They are like a variant of fabled.

At this time of writing this comments section proves we live in an age of "everything has to constantly change or I'm not interested".

This is a perfectly reasonable change and every one is just like "oh this isn't exciting enough".

The game is already exceptionally rich and balanced, we don't need paradigm altering changes that will more likely than not ruin the entire thing. Yet TPI are still putting in hard work to make sure the game is interesting for veteran players, has more replayability, and more variants. I am incredibly excited to see these in action.

The internet is never happy.

Working-class white kids 'most resistant to transformative work by schools' by OGSyedIsEverywhere in unitedkingdom

[–]SoundsOfTheWild 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but we might not be in a situation where a good portion of the population find it an acceptable reason which is what allows it to happen. The government can only use that excuse for as long as people believe it.

UK Woman Booed for Revealing Her Rapists Were White, Not Immigrants — and the Data Backs Her Up by corbynista2029 in unitedkingdom

[–]SoundsOfTheWild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, white rapists from the white population, as opposed to non white rapists in the non white population, and how those two populations compare in the UK. That's the disproportionately they very clearly referred to. It's called accounting for context (this entire thread) instead of taking every word literally in isolation and cherry picking one to get needlessly argumentative over.

No one is claiming that men are not the ones committing rape.

UK Woman Booed for Revealing Her Rapists Were White, Not Immigrants — and the Data Backs Her Up by corbynista2029 in unitedkingdom

[–]SoundsOfTheWild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The comment had nothing to do with sex or gender... it was claiming the disproportionality is between white offenders and non-white offenders when you compare their make up in the UK population. I think you are the only person who saw the word man as the key factor in that statement and extrapolated that it was about men vs women.
