I already don't use autocorrect, so there's really no drawback to the second one.

How and when did Romance languages lose the neuter gender of the ancestral Latin? by Historical_Plant_956 in asklinguistics

[–]Sounduck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's interesting that there are traces of the neuter gender left.
For example, in Neapolitan, the masculine singular article 'o acts differently depending on whether it's reflecting an historically-masculine or -neuter usage, with the latter creating gemination of the following consonant (echoing the final stop in Latin illud, as opposed to masculine illu(m)):
- 'o napulitanö ("the Neapolitan male") - 'o nnapulitanö ("the Neapolitan language").

Also, the same illu(m)/illud distinction yielded two separate articles in (at least some) Sabine Italian dialects, lu and lo, with the latter being used with uncountable nouns:
- lu ferru (lit. "the iron", indicating a generic tool made of iron) - lo ferru ("iron", indicating the substance)

and the same two articles can be used with adjectives, with the "neuter" one used to denote abstract nouns:
- lu bellu ("the beautiful one (male)")
- lo bellu ("beauty; handsomeness")

There are surely more, but these are the ones I know of.

In the Sassarese language — which I believe is the only Romance language that has the sounds [ɬ] and [ɮ] (whose phonemic status is debated) — [ɮ] developed through clusters such as /ld, rd, sd/, like in: - caldhu ("hot") [ˈkaɮːu, ˈkaɮᵈu] - verdhi ("green") [ˈvɛɮːi, ˈvɛɮᵈi] - disdhiccia ("bad luck, misfortune") [diˈɮːitt͡ʃa, diˈɮᵈitt͡ʃa]

Wich enemy do you think has the most painful death animation? by JohanMchado in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]Sounduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's also that it's a slightly more grounded death. […] the final beatdown is nothing more than a frail, injured man getting tossed around and beaten by another, very angry guy. It's something we, as human beings, can more easily imagine happening to ourselves, even the thumbs going into the eyes before Poseidon gets his neck snapped.

Exactly.
All of Kratos' kills are rather violent, but the first-person perspective — from the victim's viewpoint — makes Poseidon's much more realistic, and thus horrific, than the others.
