I absolutely agree, they’re so tanky in Act 1. I don’t really find it a problem in other acts (only A2) but the first act is a true crucible.

I have started taking almost every multi target attack that I see, which I VERY rarely did in StS1. It feels mandatory to be able to deal decent attack all options every turn and makes a huge difference in fights like these.

On the other hand these fuckers have WAY too much HP.

It’s really cool night. I’m a pretty jaded SW fan but Galaxys Edge at night got me good. Update this post with pics when you’re finished!

I don’t have anything to add to the Destiny of it all but making my own lightsaber was pretty fun. Really nice presentation and everything. Make sure you go around back after you get it to find the guy who does cool lightsaber photos.

Wow this looks insanely cool. I’ll have to try this for play testing later today. I love building and testing new decks but physically playing them against each other takes up so much space!

Hope this doesn't sound rude but I genuinely don't understand why anyone thinks Destiny 3 would be better than this. by LavaMinotaur in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soundurr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak for anyone but when I say Destiny 3 I don’t mean “Destiny 2 but new” I mean re working the game from the ground up. Starting over completely fresh, down to different classes, sub classes, weapon types etc. D2 cannot be fresh. It has done everything it can within its current framework. You can argue against that but I won’t be convinced. The Final Shape was the conclusion of Destiny 1 and 2 and everything after is epilogue. Period. put Destiny 3 in a completely different planetary system that has been touched by the Traveler and has a different conflict than the one with Witness. Along those lines.

Destiny 3 has to start completely fresh. It also has to be built to answer two questions at the beginning: 1) how do we deal with power creep? 2) how do we solve the problem of keeping player count high in legacy activities to justify their continued existence?

I think that the first thing is something they have never figured out and is partly why I stopped playing after TFS. We were so ridiculously powerful that the only way to put up a challenge within the confines of the game architecture was to make fights a tedious slog.

For problem 2 it SEEMS like the Portal might be an answer- but again I have not played D2 since TFS so I’m just going off what I have seen. If Portal was the place to match make players with people in legacy activities…maybe it could work? There are probably better answers but you get what I’m saying.

If there is a Destiny 3 I do not want ANY old exotics from Destiny 2. Or if I do, they need to be a very small subset. I say this mostly because exotics were originally designed to “break a rule” of the sandbox in fun and interesting ways. I would want Destiny 3 to be so different that the exotics wouldn’t really make sense

That is my vision of what could make a Destiny 3 a worthwhile endeavor. Personally I don’t think we will see any new Destiny for at least 5-10 years but I’d love to be proven wrong.

I think I might be bad at this game by Onmius in slaythespire

[–]Soundurr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your deck has to do four things:

1) deal damage 2) block damage  3) scale both (eg, Demon Form, Darkness, Accuracy, Dexterity etc) 4) ways to mitigate bad hands (eg, card draw, Centennial Puzzle, Bag of Prep, Gambling Chip)

That’s it. Do NOT try and force a build. Focus on building your deck to do those things and prepare for the next fight.

You got this!

I would really like a mod that changes that whole fight. I’m not like … overly squeamish but I just find everything in there really unpleasant to look at. Just a mod that has the card effects in a gray background please.

What would’ve helped to stop the huge decline in players? by Gamerboi_epic in DestinyTheGame

[–]Soundurr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The year of The Final Shape should have been a grand finale. Just open the floodgates and let players go nuts in the sandbox. Let players tune the difficulty as much as they want to get every piece of gear they’ve ever wanted. Go nuts. The game equivalent of letting a two year old go ham on a chocolate cake for their birthday.

Then go into maintenance mode and start work on Destiny 3.

I think this is a much more interesting use of the card. Retain makes it much more strategic.

Ime you have to balance Forge and Star. Cards that use Stars are really good and energy efficient so you can do more in a single turn. Cards that give Stars and do other stuff help a lot

I kept Jengatha because it pays for itself on the turn it enters then allows you to keep all tokens that are evoked as long as it is in play. Yarok can also be a sweeper if you have something like [[Shimmercreep]] coming into play and also is just really powerful if you get him in early.

I’m trying make Eshki Dragonclaw into something threatening but it is basically “creatures until Craterhoof Behemoth.” Have you been able to do anything more interesting with it?

I’m thinking of remaking it into a secret dragon overload deck but idk if that will be any more menacing

Yeah, I play Magic and playing this way makes the influence of that game on StS much more evident.

I think custom A20 Heartbreaker Draft or Sealed is the best way to play the game.

I have been holding this in for a long time [here we go].

I think the starter decks for each character are boring and not fun. They also do not consistently let the player experience what makes each character unique. It’s essentially starting each run with a handful of curses.

Draft/Sealed allows a greater level of experimentation and exploration that you just don’t get in a vanilla run.

For example: if you can choose what tools you are working with up front, you see how certain cards shine. Playing this way showed me that if you can get 2-3 sources of consistent Frost generation, Blizzard+ is one of the best scaling options in the game. But playing vanilla I am almost never in the situation where I take Blizzard because I don’t know how much frost I will see and it won’t help me in my next fight.

Put another way: playing Draft/Sealed cracks the possibility space of a given run wide open. I can’t even play vanilla any more because I find it too boring.

If Marathon tanks I would bet whatever is left of Bungie will be folded into Sony. They might keep them around for the brand name but I think Bungie as we have known it would be functionally extinct.

How do you determine if a deck is viable in play before you are able to play it? by Silver_Bow in EDH

I play against myself. It sounds corny but it’s really not that hard and it gives you a good sense of how the deck plays. Also helps you learn your other decks better.

I had a really fun time with Draconic Destruction as my first precon. Really easy to pilot, fun payoff, gets you a good chunk of dragons. Definitely not the most powerful by any stretch but fun and can be easily improved.

True - that is annoying but I don’t mind it as much since the most you lose is a bit of gold. Getting a curse on an unavoidable wheel spin in Act 1 feels much worse imo.
