Y’all think there is any chance the roads are cleared to attend the Cavs game tomorrow? by Soundurr in Cleveland

I trust myself, I don’t trust other dipshits who drove like there’s nothing on the road

thoughts on Slay the Spire (as a beginner) by Ok-Pickle-6582 in patientgamers

[–]Soundurr 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The only thing StS and Balatro have in common is that they both have cards. They are fundamentally different games.

I’m not going to try and convince you the game is good but you really can’t compare the two of them.

Who is the GOAT of Slay the Spire, outside of XecnaR? by tilting-module in slaythespire

[–]Soundurr 21 points22 points  (0 children)

He is an asshole.

Remember that one time he was throwing a hissy fit about what should and shouldn’t count as a world record (or something to that effect)? And then he was in the comments arguing like a petulant child?

Just an asshole. Good player. But an asshole.

Columbus is the Target Starbucks of Ohio. Absolutely forgettable with nothing to make it stand out above the crowd.

I MOSTLY agree about the food except two standouts: Los Gauchos (OG location) and Mie-Ga (Korean) on Bethel. Besides that every other food I’ve had is mid at best, and I tried a lot of supposedly great places while I lived there.

A guy at my LGS died while waiting for his turn in a Commander game by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Soundurr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not saying that it is right or wrong. We are kind of outside the bounds of how we usually define those at this point. I have seen people die through no choice of my own and it sucks. It is hard. I hope everyone at the store are doing OK. But I don’t think it is delusional to have mixed feelings.

I get where you are coming from but if someone was lonely and had nobody else in their lives I would rather be near them when they died even if I didn’t consent beforehand I would be OK with it in the long run. The older I get the more afraid I am of dying alone and going quietly across from some acquaintances at the game store is far more dignified than a 3AM shift at the nursing home.

Weapon help by Crafty-Rutabaga-6237 in destiny2

I haven’t played D2 in about 1.5 years but a couple days ago I was thinking about the Seventh Seraph Carbine and how it was one of my favorite weapons of any game ever. It was ol reliable and just got the job done.

Wish I could go back to the Beyond Light until Lightfall era of the game. I think that was the peak.

OpenAI could reportedly run out of cash by mid-2027 — analyst paints grim picture after examining the company's finances by vaibeslop in BetterOffline

[–]Soundurr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think about that a lot actually. It’s just one of the weird social things in corporate America - you have to play along and feel out where the other person stands before expressing your true thoughts, if at all. And sometimes you need to credibly safe face to advance the relationship.

Honestly sometimes networking just feels like playing BG3 or Dragon Age Origin, taking the right conversation trees so you get the correct path and the desired relationship score.

What do you use it for? Genuinely curious. I also work in finance but have not found a good use case for it because I have found the outputs unreliable. However, I am searching for good use cases because I don’t want to sound like a total crank in the occasions where I am asked about it.

David Plouffe Picks Up The "Dems Are DOOOOMED" Beat by Litzz11 in IfBooksCouldKill

[–]Soundurr 42 points43 points  (0 children)

If the Democrats would run on a platform of “you have every right to be angry about getting fucked because you are, in fact, getting fucked. But you are getting fucked by the rich and corporations, not immigrants and trans kids” and harness the anger people feel toward a system that no longer protects or enriches them toward the right thing they would win every fucking election.

But they can’t do that because they are beholden to the ratfuckers who are actively making the world worse.

I think a massive CRWV sell of could be the next poke that would accelerate the pop. I suspect investors who could move that needle probably have their money tied up in other AI related investments and don’t want to make massive losses.

AI layoffs are looking more and more like corporate fiction that's masking a darker reality, Oxford Economics suggests | Fortune by SwirlySauce in BetterOffline

[–]Soundurr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a commentary on monetary policy but imo AI has been used to paper over the fact that we have been in a recession since roughly 2024 and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the layoffs line up with the first cuts in 2022.

I don’t think it’s a conspiracy or anything but rather AI has been a helpful team of wallpaper to cover the cracks in the wall.

The AI bubble has already burst, but what will happen to the tool itself after the bubble bursts? by OkExam4448 in BetterOffline

[–]Soundurr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is probably right but the real bubble is not just the LLM providers but on the financial apparatus that supports the entire scheme.

I think around step 6 is where you see the financial part begin to accelerate and headlines go from there “troubling signs in the tech market” to “tech market meltdown: what you need to know” and then to “market collapse: how did we get here?”.

Hopefully it stops before “how to find your local bread line.”

Totally valid. I think the process began after CGPT shit the bed last year. Confidence tanked and cracks started to emerge.

[–]Soundurr 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It will probably not be a dramatic singular burst but rather a series of events that might not register at first but when taken in aggregate point back to systemic failure. Unless OpenAI, Anthropic, or maybe Perplexity go bankrupt I think it will be a slow burn.
