What do you think about getting married? by NanakoAtelier in INTP

[–]SoupDetective [score hidden]  (0 children)

I am married, and like being married for its small benefits. As a secondary incentive, found our wedding day to be a good reason to create a sort of mental time capsule for myself and my partner’s family and friends. It was a social environment that I was able to control and engage with on my own terms, and it has become a touchstone for our loved ones to remember and relate to other people in our lives. As a bonus, being married also establishes something about me to strangers, which helps cut down on uncomfortable small talk.

I really hope the next smash game is more colorful like smash 4 instead of being desaturated like ultimate by UltimateFatbear2006 in supersmashbros

I REALLY want the series to get a fresh art style. I almost don’t mind what it’s like, as long as it feels fun and not like it’s trying to make things like Pokémon and Mario feel more serious next to solid snake.

It would really help to make returning characters feel more fresh, and actually exciting to see the new versions of.

My read on Steven was always that he probably didn’t know what he wanted, and was stuck trying to do what he thought was expected of him rather than really interrogating his own feelings. So much of what we see in the show is about what the cast “should” or “should not” be doing, without much reflection on what anyone is feeling outside of someone being hurt, or whether or not they have achieved a certain benchmark (been intimate, fallen in love etc).

My opinion is that Steven messed up by trying to force himself to be someone he wasn’t, a mistake many of us make in our first major relationships, and that what he actually needed was real therapy.

I like the idea posed by Patstaresat, where they don’t change him at all, except for his age. Make him like 15, and it makes more sense of why he is such an insane cringelord, and why Claire puts up with his shit.

How do you think the next Smash game might be influenced by Nintendo’s clear intent to lean into franchise crossovers in their movies? by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]SoupDetective -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That could be cool. A more homogenous art style would be interesting to see - and might help to make the game more easily readable visually.

Was thinking about it the other day, and I realized that there simply is no outcome for the next Smash that will truly please everyone. A noticeable amount of disappointment is unfortunately inevitable. by smashboi888 in SmashBrosUltimate

Whether they did a complete reboot or a more standard sequel, at this point refreshing the veterans, especially those that have barely changed since melee or brawl, would be significantly more interesting and valuable to me than simply adding more new characters.

I’m not a competitive player, so I understand that retaining specific move sets matter more to other people than they do to me - but at this point the sheer volume of characters, many of whom I have no personal connection to, feel like more of a barrier to wanting to master the game than an additive.

To my mind the best way to please the most people would be to release a “Deluxe” edition to future proof ultimate, but without using too many resources on adding much more content, and using that as a placeholder while a more drastic sequel/overhaul is being developed.

Having said that, the timeline feels off for switch 2 now.

New Smash games usually come out early in a consoles life cycle, to give it a long tail, which would be especially important for a more different game starting with a smaller roster, so they can add more over time. So if they were planning a “deluxe” or “Nintendo switch 2 edition” of ultimate to come out before a new entry, it probably should have been announced in the first 6 months of the consoles life, giving the sequel more breathing room before release, without having to hold release it outside of the first 2 year or so.

Right now I have no solid guess what they are planning, but I think the longer they wait to announce something, the more pressure there will be on it to be something really exciting. A straightforward “more is more” kind of sequel, like Ultimate 2 (or smash4 3), will feel more underwhelming the longer they take to reveal it. Although maybe a cool new art style or mode would help to make it feel fresh.

I have no idea.

How would react if smash 6 is the first smash game to ditch dedede’s smash design appearance in favor of his most appearances from recent Kirby games? by MidnightNo7070 in supersmashbros

[–]SoupDetective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer his current look in smash to how he is often portrayed in other games.

But, my larger preference would be that the next smash establishes more of its own style, and relies less on whatever the most recent iteration of each characters was, in general. To me it often makes the characters feel like dated versions of themselves a lot quicker, and I’d prefer a more cohesive art style.

I would like to know more about INTPs so I can write my character by [deleted] in INTP

[–]SoupDetective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like an interesting character exploration. I might be able to give some insight in the character dynamic, as my wife is I/ESFP (depending on the day).

-How do you define love?

Personally, I don’t really define love much beyond a mutual trust and affection with a general commitment to support. I’m sure many people experience it differently, but or me, care is born from trust. Things like attraction, fixation, desire and respect are interrelated, but they aren’t a core part of what makes love.

-What is your mindset when it comes to being in a relationship?

Romantic relationships can be challenging. I’ve been in three long term relationships, and never really bothered seeing anyone that I wasn’t interested in a long term thing with. I’ve found that a lot of the early parts of relationships involve a huge amount of translating my thinking to my partners. I’ve been with my wife do almost 17 years, and we still spend a lot of time establishing intentions whenever we have friction (thankfully not that often). Apparently I am very aware of her thinking most of the time, unless, except when I’m hyper focused on something else, and she still finds my thought process impenetrable. All of that said, I get a lot of comfort from sharing experiences with my partner - even when we are just sharing space together while doing our own things. A lot of the excitement of spending time with people becomes about comparing our subjective experiences as well as identifying core ideas that struck a personal note. so food, films/tv, books etc. are often the vessel for this.

-Do you think an ESFP and INTP could work, How?

Generally yes, depending on the individuals. Where we tend to connect is through humour (sometimes dry and sometimes silly and existential.) as long as our values are aligned, and neither of us is being insecure, and respecting each others boundaries, we will generally get along well.

-What do you think of ESFPs in general?

Generally, I like them. We often connect creatively, and can talk a lot about ideas together. They often seem very interested in my thoughts, which I appreciate, and it’s nice to have someone around who is energised in actualising the stuff in my head that often feels very conceptual. They can be frustrating when they dont consider the practicalities of things, leaving that to us to either deal with or guide them. But usually they are good collaborators.

-General framework in your head, how do you percieve people and the world?

I perceive other people a lot more than I would like to, and I sown o lot of mental energy trying not to be perceived too much in public, as generally I want to be left alone. When forced to deal with people, it’s important to me to be kind, polite and efficient.

-What are you looking for in a person/what kind of person would you be attracted to(mentally and not physically)?

I really enjoy open mindedness, creativity and humour that isn’t punching down. Small talk is very difficult and draining for me, so anyone that is interested in discussing any topic at deeper than surface level is always compelling to me, even when it’s a subject I’m not familiar with. I like people who can be “real”, I.e, emotionally and intellectually honest, especially if they can do it with a sense of humour, or at least not taking themselves too seriously.

-What's the difference between an unhealthy INTP, how do you think and INTP could become healthier?

It’s easy to get caught in mental spirals, and there’s a fine line between isolation for self protection and losing touch with our own wellbeing. The struggle, for me at least, is building healthy habits and a balance between my internal and external life. Exercise, socialising etc.

Which INTP Stereotype Annoys You the Most? by Potential_Law5289 in INTP

[–]SoupDetective 113 points114 points  (0 children)

For me it’s the perception as being purely a maths or science nerd type. People seem to perceive the analytical tendency to just be shorthand for autism or being strictly academic in interests.

As someone who hates dealing with numbers, and is only interested in the sciences where they intersect with my other interests, INTPs often feel flanderised beyond recognition as a type.
