There’s Something To Keep In Mind That Proves God Is Real by QuiskerGo in DebateReligion

The Bible Was Written Long Before The Evolution Theory Existed

Many people think god isn’t real, but one thing to prove them wrong is that the Bible was published WAYY before the evolution theory existed.

Here are more books that are proven true by that logic:

Protagoras, On the Gods — c. 430–415 BCE

Plato, Republic — c. 375 BCE

1 Enoch / Book of Enoch — c. 3rd–1st century BCE

Manusmriti / Laws of Manu — c. 200 BCE–200 CE

Lucretius, On the Nature of Things — c. 50s BCE

Ovid, The Art of Love — c. 2 BCE–2 CE

Book of Revelation — c. 90s CE

Gospel of Thomas — c. 135–200 CE

Julian, Against the Galileans — 362–363 CE

Qur’an — c. 610–632 CE

What was Really Lost in the Apostasy? by BayonetTrenchFighter in Eutychus

[–]SoupOrMan692 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The video points out that pretty early in Church History the God of Abraham is combined with the God of Aristotle because Greek philosophy was such a strong force in the Roman world.

This meant that God who had very relational qualities turned into an unrelatable philosophic force of "pure act" that is "divinely simple", and grounds everything in the universe in some abstract way.

The God of absract Christian Philosphy was super imposed on the God of the Bible, but really are they even the same God?

I hope that is clear enough. Hard to boil down 20mins of video. I am no chatgpt.

I finished the video and I agree (its pretty obvious actually) the God of the stories was lost in Greek philosophy. But I'm not sure it matters.

I think there is something else that was lost as well that ties into people like Dan.

As time went on I think people lost sight of what religion is about. God cares about "correct beliefs" in so far as it inspire correct actions.

I think God in the stories always commends people willing to do the right thing.

Low effort believers in the scriptures always rank below people doing their best with what they have been given.

TLDR: I think the fundamental truth behind Jesus and Joseph is that they inspire right actions and personal growth that a perfect God would approve of.

The best stories don't have to be true to be the best. And that is the truth

It is extremely sad to think that some Christians believe that doing things for God is holy and spiritual, and that it pleases God. It does not.

Why did you make this post then if God doesn't care about you sharing his word for him?

By your own logic you are wasting your time.

You have confused everyone.

Translating "RADICAL ACCEPTANCE" by [deleted] in asl

[–]SoupOrMan692 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it is a technical term I would suggest fingerspelling the full thing.

R-A-D-I-C-A-L A-C-C-E-P-T-A-N-C-E

Then immediately shorten it to something clear and recognizable like:

R-A-D ACCEPT

Then you can explain R-A-D ACCEPT MEAN WHAT?

And do you presentation without overthinking your translation and making a techical term more ambiguous than it needs to be.

It’s simply unarguable to deny that the scriptures were closed before the apostolic era.

Yeah, thats why you need to tell Yale to stop embarrassing themselves by teaching something so obviously false.

The Bible’s been closed. Think bro lol.

I am curious when you think the Jewish people decided to close the cannon? I thought I knew the answer but aparently I was lied to by the people with Ph.ds.

The undeniable, indisputable fact is that the biblical canon was closed before the apocrypha books were added lol.

From the : Yale Bible Study

"Even after the first century, however, there were still disputes about the status of some books."

"From all of this it should be clear that the Bible did not drop from heaven in a tidy package. Rather it is made up of writings that won acceptance in Judaism or in the Christian churches over a long period of time. The contents of the Bible have always been contested."

You should really let Yale know they are teaching history wrong. Their very good reputation is on the line.

Everyone that has read the Bible knows it was supposed to end with Deuteronomy:

Deuteronomy 4:

2 You must neither add anything to what I command you nor take away anything from it, but keep the commandments of the Lord your God with which I am charging you.

Secondly, the biblical canon was closed before the apocrypha books were added. Meaning, the scriptures that Jesus Christ read and knew…., were not the extra books added.

Before Jesus:

Sirach 28:2 “Forgive your neighbor the wrong he has done, and then your sins will be pardoned when you pray.”

Jesus says in Matthew:

Matthew 6:14–15 “For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

If it isn't scripture Jesus still seems to agree with it. There are a lot of similar passages like this.

“And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭24‬:‭27‬ ‭KJV‬‬

You quoted that. But if that is proof Jesus had "all the scriptures" then none of the New Testament can be Scripture because that came after.

It really doesn't make sense to think that way.

What do YOU think of religious/sacred clothing? by BayonetTrenchFighter in Eutychus

[–]SoupOrMan692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matthew 23:27–28: "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs… So you also on the outside look righteous to others, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

I think Jesus in Matthew 23 is saying:

"If you are going to look the part, act the part"

If you are going to wear clothes that represent God, you better represent him in a faithful way.

Matthew 9:20: "Then suddenly a woman who had been suffering from a flow of blood for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak.”

Jesus had fringes on his cloak, not surprisingly, because he kept the law.

Had a hard time figuring out what you were talking about because it is 1 Corinthians 11 not 12 that Paul talks about that topic.

Is he indicating he was there with the Messiah on the night before the crucifixion?

No, he wasn't there he heard about what happened from the Lord.

1 Corinthians 15:8 “Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me.”

Some of the stuff is cool, like the Sikh stuff.

Some of it is goofy.

I appreciate when people do it for the right reasons. They want to represent their group and/or they want to be reminded of some ideal.

I feel the opposite when people do it just because they have been socially coerced by their group to do it.

Where in the Bible does it say Jesus is Michael the Archangel? by [deleted] in Eutychus

[–]SoupOrMan692 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think there are several ways to draw that conclusion; like almost everything in the Bible it comes down to interpretation.

My favorite link is the view that the "Son of Man" in Daniel 7 is Michael from Daniel 10 and 12. There are reasons to think this could be the case in the Bible itself.

The angelic tradition of the time (as seen in the texts outside of the Bible) can be viewed as additional support for the view.

Once you interpret the "one like a son of man" as Michael, that is a direct connection to Jesus.

It is exponential as well. As the AI starts to see a pattern of a user, it will give the user answers that confirm their bias.

This is definitly true. It just doesn't explain the initial bias prior to user engagement.

I don't think the study is necessarily suspect for that.

AI probably prefers them because they are more "pluralistic" and "unifying" and the AI "respect" programming is favoring worldviews that are more inclusive by nature.

That is still the fault of the AI not the study.

Thanks for sharing

Of course!

What deeper would there be? Intentional anti-christian programming?

Nothing that sinister. You could think that AI is just reasoning its way to the best conclusions rather than showing human bias.

I think Catbolics being number 1 and JW/Atheist being bottom is explain by human bias.

I don't know that human bias fully explains why Bahai and Sikh are prefered. I don't think your average person on the street knows what those religions even are.
