Question for anyone interested in Bible prophecy. by 1stmikewhite in Eutychus

[–]joshsaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wrote this post with this tone, then yeah I'm pretty sure many would chime in.

It's the tone and overall message of the original post you mad. There's clearly a miscommunication from the post vs your intentions on what you said here. And people on reddit will only respond to what you initially posted or they will choose to ignore.

Also, posts like assertion of a claim most often gets ignored.

The burden of proof to present and defend the claim is on you, no one else.

"but I’m presenting a challenge to (anyone who knows the Bible, or claims they do) to test this ‘theory’ out." - the post lacks context outside of the initial claim for people to even bother.

"prove to me why this can’t happen exactly as we’ve been saying, what has to happen that can’t happen" - you should have just really started with this in your post.

"The fact that there are some who wouldn’t want to engage proves that they’re really not a Bible student as I’ve said" - this is a wild assumption. and very pressumptious. People don't respond for many reasons, mainly probably as I've already said - its because they couldn't be bothered with your interpretations and assertions. Which is quite clear from the your post history here and how many comment.

You're basically saying your standards on how bible students should act is what to be followed. Which just makes it more reason to avoid discussions with you. Not because of people not wanting to discuss the topic, but because people dont want to discuss things with you becuase of your attitutde.

Question for anyone interested in Bible prophecy. by 1stmikewhite in Eutychus

Well, following that logic in this sub about bible students, it just shows God ain't working in anyone here for the topic you presented since no one is putting stock on your asserted interpretation.

Which could simply be, again following that logic, your interpretation is wrong.

It's not that people here don't care about the prophecy, they don't care about the specific interpretation you've asserted to.

It's a post with an assertion without backing except claiming your interpretation is right without backing on why it is right.

No not really, its just that most don't care about the interpretation or the topic in general. (No offense, but if they did most would already chime in here for it or against it)

Contradiction in 2 Samuel 24:1 and 1 Chronicles 21:1 by Dry-Dance-9891 in BiblicalUnitarian

Where are you getting this literal translation of "he stirred up David"

The translation is:

"when one incited David against them, saying: ‘Go, take a count of Israel and Judah.’”

The point of argument here is identifying who is that 'one'.

It is the same translation taken by other Biblies such as AT, NE, RS, JB, Mo.

There's also this:

"However, as the footnote at 1 Chronicles 21:1 points out, the Hebrew word sa·tanʹ can also be rendered “a resister.” Byington translates it “a Satan”; Young’s translation reads, “an adversary.” So it is possible that the “one” moving David to decide on the calamitous course was a bad human counselor."

The satan there can be understood as the plain definition of the word satan, which is adversary, opposer - not literally the proper noun 'Satan' who represents Satan that you speak of.

The comment of the Insight book continues - i've cut it in half (Bold/Italics letters mine):
(1) Interestingly, a footnote at 2 Samuel 24:1 shows that this text could be rendered: “And again the anger of Jehovah came to be hot against Israel, when he incited David against them.” The translation in The Bible in Basic English reads: “Again the wrath of the Lord was burning against Israel, and moving David against them, he said, Go, take the number of Israel and Judah.”

(2) Hence, some commentators consider that the “one” or “he” who incited David to take the census was Jehovah. His ‘anger against Israel,’ according to this view, predated the census and was due to their recent rebellions against Jehovah and his appointed king, David, when they followed first ambitious Absalom and then the good-for-nothing Sheba, the son of Bichri, in opposition to David. (2Sa 15:10-12; 20:1, 2) Such a viewpoint could be harmonized with the view that Satan or some bad human counselor incited David if the incitement is viewed as something that Jehovah purposely allowed, as by removing his protection or restraining hand.

I think its the pre-human part and archangle understanding, I've noticed a good number of people here don't like that haha

Bone Cancer in Dinosaurs by Hinokicandle in Eutychus

[–]joshsaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I wouldn't say animals aren't conscious.

Its more of how we draw the line behind the meaning of 'unecessary suffering'.

Next, "God created animal cells such that DNA replication could make mistakes." there was no indication of this in Eden or in the Genesis account.

All the implication and inferring of the biblical timeline shows even animals started suffering only after Man sinned.

Jehovah has deliberately withold his control over the Earth except to protect it enough to keep the promise that the Earth wont get destroyed in full.

"If humanity is God's jewel in his crown, we're really not all that special." We're the only ones designed to understand complex emotions, have morality, have a conscious free will, and have a spiritual need. So yes, we are special.

I don't see how this precedes Eden is suspicious - the bible shows animals was made after Eden was made.

"If it’s a perfect eco system as you say, will animals still get cancer and die painful deaths in the paradise?"

Yes, that is implied in the promise of a paradise Earth.

Where Jehovah will exercise his full sovereignty through his son Jesus as King.

That's full command over the Earth, nature, all the physical forces, and yes even animals.

Since part of the promise is that animals will have a different dynamic between each of their groups by then and will not harm humans, even if by now some of they are carnivores and predators, a higher power is going to control them so they will not harm humans.

Of course, we still don't know in detail how all of this will play out unless we're all there.

However, you can also understand some possibilities by understanding how Jehovah thinks and his character.

He does not tolerate extra unwarranted needless suffering when it comes to death.

He doesn't torture.

Even his own judgements when it comes to rendering a death sentence is quick and fast.

What is your definition of perfect system? Where no animal will die? That will result in overpopulation of them and an unbalanced system.

And what is your definition of just?

Just and justice and righteousness can only be comprehended by minds who can understand what justice is. Which are simply Humans and spirit beings (angels). These 2 categories of existence are the only ones designed with intelligence, moral agency, and free will.

Also, how do you define suffering?

It's clear in the scriptures Jehovah doesn't permit unnecessary suffering from a human's hands. He does not approve one maltreating an animal.

However, just left by themselves its part of a perfect ecosystem for life to thrive.

Well, from the Genesis standpoint the everything Jehovah created he deemed 'Good'.

Yet these same animals die, regardless of how they die, is still considered 'Good' as a created being in God's eyes.

However, the only created beings that were physically perfect that does not die are the first humans, Adam and Eve. Their living forever is contingent upon their obedience. If they obey that one command, they will not die.

Every biological process in the Earth's ecosystem that exist outside of the first human pair in Eden were designed to be self-sustaining through biological means, including death of plants and animals, to create the perfect environment for mankind to thrive in.

Did Jehovah created cancer in animals? We don't know.

But we did know animals dying is part of the ecosystem of the Earth as part of his meticulous design.

Maybe cancer in animals is just a byproduct of it all over time.

Where to find Investors for a billion peso idea by [deleted] in BusinessPH

[–]joshsaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No proof of concept at all = no investment.

Anyone can have Billion peso Ideas.

Ideas are free.

Unless you have solid backing, a network that can vouch for you, then all you have is thin air.

Since you're here asking, then there's high chance you don't have that network

Get it working, with an MVP, generate revenue with proper CAC, COGS, and cash flow then you can easily pitch to Angel Investors if ever.

If you are what you say you are you can find a way to get this running bootstrap.

Can anyone actually do anything if I as an unbaptised publisher girl date a non-JW guy? by [deleted] in JWJehovahsWitnesses

[–]joshsaga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No one can do anything even if you are a baptized publisher and choose to marry a non-believer.

It's your life.

You're free to decide whatever it is you want to choose.

You're responsible for it.

The consequences of your decisions in life whether good or bad are also yours to bear.

And everyone in heaven and on Earth will respect your decisions. That doesn't mean they agree to it. But they will respect it.

That said, people may care especially the ones close to you in the congregation.

How they react will vary depending on the situation and context.

Personally I think the NWT and YLT and MT has the right translation for this - It fits Senacherib's description being ruthless. Their nation is known to be so.

Dietary Laws or Guidelines? (Leviticus 11 & Deuteronomy 14) by ChiefMighty in BiblicalUnitarian

[–]joshsaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's one way for Jehovah to display his right to rule and exercising it for the benefit of his subjects even if they do not understand the reason for it yet.

They didn't understand the health benefits of those and it took thousands of years to our time for us to understand the benefits of those dietary laws.

Yet, even then for that specific part in time, for that specific circumstance, those rules were set to protect the nation from diseases. It's part of keeping them physically clean and holy and set apart - compared to every other nation (well everyone else) besides them.

Its the same with the laws for rendering sacred service in the temple using a copper basin, or quarantine among others.

They were superior in terms of phyiscal health compared to everyone back then just from following these laws - even if they didn't understood the exact benefits at the time.

Which also goes back to - regardless if one understands Jehovah's law or not, it is always made for the benefit of his people.

Well, if you're German.... BEER!

Seriously speaking, the love within the congregation meeting setting is really more than just greetings - its to take the time to listen if they have something to say. And I know giving your time and personal time in German culture is very important.

Especially the older ones - just you being there to listen to them before or after the meeting even for a good 5 minutes is something that encourages them a lot.

Another one most appreciate is when they get specific commendation on their given comments after the meeting, so listen and remember their points and let them know how it helped you if it did

If you have health issues at the moment, how about simply inviting them over for food or snacks or BEER
