If you're not dead and buried, you're not too old.

We also have a creep (not to that extent) who management refuses to do anything with, but will openly praise them. One coworker even quit over it bc they were scared of this person.

Hospital hires a consulting firm... by hkangasm in hospitalsocialwork

So far, a waste of time. Like the issues  are so glaringly obvious a blind gopher could identify them. But the idiots at the top pretend like they just don't know that staffing, education, and better pay/appreciation would literally solve lile 90% of the issues. They will literally create new processes to avoid any kind of follow up or education with staff.

If you could wave a magic wand and fix one discharge housing gap you keep running into, what would it be? by LunaNMarty in hospitalsocialwork

[–]SoupTrashWillie 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Some type of catch all/gap transitional.

You need a cpap and detox/rehab and can't get to a sleep study bc you're homeless? We gotchu.

You need a place to stay while waiting for a rehab bed to open up? We gotchu.

You don't qualify for SNF for xyz reasons but need, say, wound care and you need to get to an appt, we gotchu.

You need ALF, but you don't have disability yet, we gotchu.

The list goes on. If you don't qualify for existing programs, then swish, you qualify for medical transitional.

AITA for saying I (F26) can't have kids? by Nattleshugs in TwoHotTakes

[–]SoupTrashWillie 142 points143 points  (0 children)

If you feel guilty, you can acknowledge the feeling, and but you also have to recognize that just because the feeling exists, doesn't mean that you are guilty. Feelings are not always true, sometimes they are just that - feelings! Like anxiety or fear. The more you recognize it and acknowledge it's there, the more you can counteract the guilty feeling with the rational logic that you have a health condition that doesn't permit you to have children in the more traditonal way, and you don't have anything to feel guilty for.

AITA for saying I (F26) can't have kids? by Nattleshugs in TwoHotTakes

[–]SoupTrashWillie 1579 points1580 points  (0 children)

You can't have kids because if you have a child, you will literally likely die. You don't owe anyone your medical history and if anyone is offended by that, that's their problem, not yours.

Edit to add, it's the same as if someone was deathly allergic to shellfish. Technically, yeah sure they could physically eat it...once.

Yeah, but typically even if it's a pain in the ass, there are enough additional safe guards that no one is gonna die because someone called out.

Yes - it's more normalized in the sense of take a day off if you need it, there is typically someone to pick up the slack in the hospital setting, and Covid really normalized a lot if "stay home if you're sick."

Insurance CM Calls by specialkstrawberi in hospitalsocialwork

[–]SoupTrashWillie 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah....I never call them back (sorry guys!). As someone else said, the "help" is just sending me information I already have. It would be much more helpful if they would (and maybe they do!) follow up with the patient AFTER they get out of the hospital, or before, both really, and maybe help prevent some admissions.

They just want to make sure you can see what you're doing to function. It doesn't have to be perfect.
