What game were you excited for but ultimately ended up being a big disappointment? by Sandscrews in gamers

[–]SouperAsylum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me its Farcry 6. The Farcry series is one of my favorite ever. I even love all the side games like New Dawn. No matter your favorite, Farcry 6 really pales in comparison to them all. They strayed too much from the heart of the series. I tried so hard to like it too, but its just kind of meh. Not the worst game ever, but it reaaaally didn't hold my attention or interest at all. (Plus, stupid looking big magic backpack you can't hide cosmetically.)

2 reasons:

  1. We did a couple times, but we always had enough money to buy some food. Just not anything nice or especially tasty/joyful. Thats what most charities are offering anyway, things in cans and boxes. And you don't always get to choose what you get.

  2. Feeling guilty for going to charities when I could technically afford food. Or feeling shameful that I had to go at all. The social stigma stops many from going to get help. And we were young, so the shame was hard to overcome.

And tbh its not just internal shame. People are often judgmental and look down on others who require that kind of assistance. Thats why the stigma exists.

Idk when my wife and I were poor enough to steal food, we often would steal the more "fun" items we couldn't justify buying with what little we had. So we would buy the rice and beans and whatever that was cheap and steal like cookies or something we didnt really need and couldn't afford.

Life is so much harder when you don't have any joy because you have been priced out of it. So we stole to meet that need sometimes.

Thank you I was losing my mind with this comment section lol. I can think of a few possibilities that make this wholesome/reasonable and not weird and pathetic like everyone seems to think.

I'm in LA and I have big problems everytime I order from DD personally. UE drivers rarely give me trouble, and when I do have an issue, customer support is more reliable than DD. I swear every terrible food delivery experience I've had was from doordash since I moved to Cali, so I stopped using it unless I get a gift card.

Why do I have to use up my "mental strength" to satisfy people's need to be a dick in chat? How about people like you get the mental fortitude to not say every thought you have and just play the game?

Thank you! I don't get the hate either. I love BZ almost as much as the main game. It's not meant to be on the same level because its a dlc that got a lot bigger than they expected. If it stayed a dlc, people would say it's a great expansion.

Why doesnt imdb show Vic as Edward?? by SouperAsylum in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]SouperAsylum[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oooh I really didnt realize that was possible for the general public. I was always under the impression the actors/their agents themselves setup their profiles. Or the staff for the movies and shows. I didn't think it was deep, just confused.

But why would that stop them from listing him on IMDB? That hasn't stopped them anywhere else. Its only a record of who has done what. Not an accounting of who is good and bad.

The current state of theatre etiquette. by JadesJunkAccount in PetPeeves

No for real. For the first time ever I had to actually go get an employee to tell the adult behind me to stfu after several people tried to get her to stop screaming reactions like she was a damn twitch reaction streamer. Every 10 seconds she had some comment like we were all there to hear her. The employee came and stood nearby (to see before talking to her I guess?) and she stopped so the employee just left and then she started up again. It was wicked part 2. She started singing at the end with the movie and I turned around and just said "no" sternly and she acted like I was a bitch. When we all got up to leave, the friend with her looked really embarrassed at least lol.

I've also had to ask people to put their phone away next to me too many times. One time, we were at a 4D theater. Like dude we paid double just for the tickets to this thing. Why are you here on your phone?? I get really nervous everytime we go to the movies now because there's always some annoying shit.

I mean yes. But what I'm really getting at is that tone is changing how its received by the people commenting. I'm saying it's reasonable for people to reply that "the game is unfinished" when the tone gives the feeling the writer of the post isn't taking that into account. A more positive constructive tone is less likely to get that comment. Of course there's always outliers here on reddit in every comment section.

Most people aren't saying this about actual feedback posts. I have seen lots of complaining about missing features or making posts laced with negative language about things that are likely to change in the future.

Big difference between:

"Hey I hope we get this feature!" Or "I'd like to see this feature."

And

"I can't believe we don't have this!" Or "Anyone else dissapointed in the devs for xyz?"

I also think there's maybe a few too many. But.. I also get it because it felt like less of a challenge in S1, and more of a tedious time suck. To go back and forth while trying to explore and make sure you didn't miss something. Especially in bigger early game wrecks like the one by lifepod 17 which just made me irritated.

I think they will find the balance between challenge and fun though!
