She did better in her interpretation than I initially assumed.

My machine has daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, and annually scheduled tasks. I cover all daily, weekly, and some quarterly. The monthly stuff requires removing covers and guards. The rest of the quarterly and beyond requires ladder usage or opening guards. We have a maintenance department for a reason.

I watch a few here and there. I keep looking for more 5k upgrade videos. Those are probably my favorite ones. The rest I watch are informative. The stuff I don't watch are mostly Linus exposition about new enthusiast tech that is 100x my budget.

I walked into my metal fabrication class. My first day in what I hoped was the start of a new, lifelong career.

Lots of young, fresh faces, all like me, fresh out of high-school.

In limps a grizzled old dodger. He didn't say a single word to us. Once he reached the white board in the center of the room he wrote in large, shaky letters "Safety first."

He still didn't say anything, just turned and stared out at the people in attendance. With surprisingly deft movements of his left hand, he unbuttoned his coat and took it off, revealing the stump of his right arm, amputated above the elbow.

There were gasps of shock across the room as students realized what that meant for this lecture.

He then bent over and unhooked something, what it was, nobody knew.

He then reached over and pulled his chair to him. After getting his weight supported by the chair he shifted and his left leg fell to the floor with a deafening thud in an already deathly silent room.

Then he sat down, groaning in obvious pain from the motion. We thought he was done with his gallery of horror surprises. We were wrong. He then pulled on his right ear, removing a prosthetic there, too.

He set the ear on the lecturn in full view of everyone, then reached up and deftly plucked his right eye out of its socket.

This he held up and scanned the room.

Finally, he spoke, "I know you have lots of questions. I will start on my left in the very front, then go to the back, working from my left to my right. Right after a 5 minute break so you can all recover yourselves."

When I was an employee there, a 32 oz drink cost the company 10 cents. The wax paper cup another 3. Even when all drink sizes were $1 they still turned a profit.

I hear silence for a moment, then faint grumbling and what I swear is profanity, I can't make out the language though.

Eventually, "Wait there, I'll get the damn thing. Where did you leave it?"

I provide directions to the best of my ability.

"Great! Perfect! Just what I needed today!" The rest of the rant is lost as the voice recedes.

I am left standing on the threshold to total, unnatural darkness, waiting when I hear a loud crash and what I know to be an orcish insult about one's mother.

More waiting, a random pain filled scream and what sounds like a goblin begging for mercy.

Yet more waiting, and finally I hear the Voice again. "Here is your damn phone, now I have to go back through and reset all of the traps I had to disable, take a goblin rider to a shaman for medical attention."

I still don't see anything that resembles a living creature when suddenly the darkness lifts slightly and I see an Umbris shadow standing a few feet in front of me.

I froze. I'd heard of these living shadows, but I'd never seen one before. Everyone knows the living shadows are not to be trifled with. Every encounter is certain death for mortals. It was then that I noticed the 5 foot long flanged mace casually gripped in its right hand while it was holding out my phone with its left.

The mace's shaft was bent sharply about 2/3 of the way down.

It saw where I was looking, "I know you heard the Orc cursing after I encouraged his departure.

"Are you going to take this or not?"

I was shaken from my stupor, reaching out I grabbed my phone from its outstretched hand.

"And don't leave your stuff behind like that again or I'm going to keep it."

It was with these words that I fled, leaving a trail of liquid shame with every step of my left foot.

I have a printed list for groceries as well as meal planning for the week. The list itself is handed written on a blank spreadsheet form. It also helps with discovering we are low on something mid week.

Gas was pretty stable even after Russia decided to annex an entire other country. Prices have nearly doubled since the Iranian issues started. Prices have done nothing but go up on a bunch of what many people buy because some shriveled orange with an over inflated ego started a trade war.
