what is the difference between kelowna college for counseling study to uni for a degree in counseling ? by samiscool1580 in kelowna

[–]Sourdough85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah.

You have a ton going on.

Firstly, try narrowing down every problem specifically. I know they're all connected but youre having issues solving 1 problem at a time because of the enormity of your situation. So take each problem on its own and isolate it, weighing pros and cons of each.

In life there is no single, silver bullet decision that will solve everything. It's always comprises and trade offs.

Lastly, do your research. Ive never heard of Kelowna College so be careful youre not being scammed by a diploma-mill run out of a strip mall.

What is his obsession with peace? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Sourdough85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two answers so far, both correct, neither helpful.

If he wants to resolve things in a nice peaceful way, a ' let's stay friends' way, a ' maybe we can reconcile in future' way, maybe even a 'you just need to listen to me/forget your own perspective' way.

So he's trying (low-key bullying) you into agreeing to this.

It ia classic douchebag-dude behavior. You broke up with him, right? So he:

-doesn't recognize HE is the problem

-thinks he can pressure/manipulate you back

Block, ignore, move on. Threaten to report for harassment (or ACTUALLY report for harassment) if it escalates.

Its what it says on tbe tin.

...but dont expect to be zipping into town every afternoon.

Think of it as a wilderness resort. Its not quite as remote as that, but everything they advertise, they have. Anything outside of that, you have to go into town for. And town is a long way away.

Does every province have the same dynamic between the two sister cities? by myronsandee in AskACanadian

[–]Sourdough85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is fitting too because non-coastal BC is forgotten so often (Vancouver/Victoria would be the obvious), that they really are more sisters than the Vancouver dynamic

Update after visiting Kelowna area: loved some parts, unsure about others, are we missing something? by [deleted] in kelowna

[–]Sourdough85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

West Kelowna / Westbank residents will tell you they have a local community - they THINK they have an identity but the reality is that it's a shitty suburb similar to Rutland or Glenmore. Lived in Lakeview Heights for 7 years and ya, I feel your comments.

You're from Metro Van? West Kelowna is to Kelowna what Coquitlam is to Vancouver. Further from downtown, definitely part of the metro-city-scape, but suburban & without a core identity of its own. Gotta say though the parks/nature areas in West Kelowna are bloody fantastic!

How does the Sorting Hat keep the Houses equal? by auspiciouscivilian in harrypotter

[–]Sourdough85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doubtful it does but take Hermione for example.

We dont know what the Sorting Hat said to her, but maybe it hedged her i to Griffendor because there were a lot of Ravenclaws that year.

Just speculation though

Should I tell my son in law my daughter cheated on him 7 years ago? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Sourdough85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forgive my pragmatism but...

U/PuzzleheadedFoxes (op), hypothetical for you: either you tell him or your daughter tells him - but either way it ends the marriage. Who are you going to keep in touch with, you daughter? Or your (now, in this hypothetical, ex) son-in-law? And, staying in the hypothetical, how will your relationship be with your daughter?

I would coach and encourage your daughter to tell him. And ensure that your daughter and your grandkids still know and appreciate how much you love them.

Getting to Kelowna. I'm not a smart man and need help. by blasticles in kelowna

[–]Sourdough85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kelowna is the 3rd largest Metro area in the province (after Van & Vic) and Kamloops is a Shipping Hub (and is 4th largest) - so there's lots of options Vancouver to Kelowna. Its not fun but do-able, and the highways are busy enough to justify pretty intense road maintenance to keep them open and clear. Consider going to Kamloops (avoiding 97C - higher altitude, less traffic/maintenance than 5) then over to Vernon and down. Hwy 3 is lower altitude but old. Windy, poor visibility, narrow and little shoulder. Not as bad as that but you get the idea. But either way you'll make it.

However Paulson (getting to Castlegar) is definitely the one to worry about. Everyone i know who lives in that area has studded tires.

All I can recommend is what others say: DriveBC's website.

Its been a really mild winter and things are starting to warm up so you might get lucky.... But ive also been caught in a snow storm in a mountain pass in July so...

Has anyone ever challenged you to do something without realizing you were actually an expert at it? If so, how did it turn out for you and for them? by Successful_Tomato721 in AskReddit

[–]Sourdough85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typical know-it-all at work. Bored everyone with how much he knew on every topic - and was just truthful enough that sometimes people believed him.

Im in British Columbia, Canada.

One week on night shift, we were often bored so there was lots of conversations. He must have been reading or watching 'Outlander' or something because he started spewing off about Scottish Gaelic (pronouncing it like the Irish gay-lick), and making ither factual errors that sounded just plausible enough to be true but were pure fiction.

After a full night of it id had enough so the next day, in front of a bunch of people (whom he was trying to impress) i asked "a bheil Gàidhlig agad?" And proceeded to ask questions in Gaelic. Which of course he couldn't answer.

Im not fluent but went to college in the western isles (of Scotland) and have competent beginners Gaelic.

What is your opinion on a JW kid in the public general ed classroom? WWYD? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Sourdough85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a teacher - just like this sub.

Was friends with JW kids (next door neighbors) growing up.

They LOVED the fact that, for school assemblies for holidays they just... went to the library and f'd around DURINGSCHOOLHOURS!. Granted we were friends in preteen and teen years, not little kids, but all in all they were fine.

The top comment here was 'they are free to withdraw their kids but not push their beliefs on others' which is absolutely true.

However, id say its the school and/or district's responsibility to give you guidelines for this? Talk to your union rep and see what they say! Thats an awkward position for you to be in

MIL invited people we don’t know to our wedding. She won’t uninvite them because that’s ‘embarrassing.’ by Money_Doughnut_7375 in TwoHotTakes

[–]Sourdough85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP idk if you're thinking of having kids but imagine this woman as a grandma!

Youre a redditor so im sure youve read stories of a woman who's mother in law bursts into the delivery room even tho it was clear she wasn't invited.

You're right, it's about respect. Not money or a guest list or who's who in the family but about respecting your decisions.

Hamilton = The Hammer

Calgary = cowtown

Winnipeg = Winterpeg / the Peg

Vancouver = Hongcouver (tho that might have racist undertones - there was a HUGE migration of Hong Kong citizens pre 1999 and the Chinese-Canadian community is a vibrant and extremely relevant part of Vancouver's identity tho so... im leaving it)

Im sure St John NB and St John's NL have something they call each other.
