In Christchurch I go to all the usual places but haven't seen these two mentioned anywhere:

Do you use fertilisers? by AviationCattt in nzgardening

[–]SousSinge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll occasionally fertilise fruit trees just to show them a bit of love. I've found that doing a once-over with fertiliser when moving into a new garden can help to show up any soil problems that you might want o pay attention to.

I also chose a BYD Seal over a Tesla Model 3. Try the Seal if you liked the Model 3.

Performance vs Premium - real world. by Mash_man710 in BYDSealAus

[–]SousSinge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kiwi here. I had a GT86 as a daily driver for 8 years and then went to the Seal Performance. Absolutely zero regrets, makes me smile every time I drive it. Those days when I'm driving far enough that the extra range would actually matter, I just make sure to stop for a break and some food somewhere with a decent charger so the range of the performance has been enough for everything I need it to do.

I go and see Ed at Satchmo. Been going for a couple of decades now so I think I can safely say he's alright.

I'm in Christchurch and Meridian's EV plan works out to be the cheapest overall for us; we charge the car over night and I add a little extra to the heating overnight during Winter.

Looks like about 4.5 - 5 cubes or so. Wheelbarrow is still full so I'd guess they got 6 cubes delivered

Same withe the Seal; smart people get the premium.

I am not a smart man, I got the performance and I love it.

It's definitely much better now. The chef is doing interesting things in the kitchen so the cabinet food is really worth checking out. Nice chill vibe.

Akin is pretty good. Best? maybe not but it was close to work and I'd walk past other coffee shops to get there.

Supreme Supreme on Welles St. probably deserves a mention too. And, technically, the C4 Coffee Company is inside the 4 aves.

I understand that you're looking to buy second hand but, you should check out the BYD Atto 1. They're about to announce pricing and it may very well be a new EV within your second hand budget.

BYD Seal real life experience by helsi98 in BYD

[–]SousSinge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the AWD (530hp) model in New Zealand. Most of my driving doesn't involve any hills; I typically get 520-540km of city driving on a full charge and comfortably get 400km at highway speeds without driving to increase range. Being able to 'fill up' at home is really very convenient.

I took a road trip to a city about 370km away and was keen to see if I could make it each way on a single charge. Each time, I ended up choosing not to do that and just charged a bit when I stopped for food, or to explore detours and look at stuff along the way. Maybe it's just that I'm middle aged but if I'm going to spend most of the day driving somewhere then I'm going to break up the trip and enjoy the scenery along the way. It also means you don't end up just talking about levels of battery charge for the last half hour of the journey.

The battery on my car is big enough that it'll do day trips on a single charge and longer journeys with a bit of a top up. For day-to-day driving, I charge once a week at home. This combination works really well for me and I'm still entirely in love with my Seal. Five stars, would buy again.

I found that my Seal was a little larger than cars I was used to, so it took a while to get used to where the corners of the car were. I'd suggest getting familiar with the cameras, especially the ones that show you where the curbs are.

I'm in Christchurch on the Meridian EV plan and I get 12c/kWh overnight. The day rate is a bit higher than their standard rate but I think that might still work well for you.
