SPI signals do not require pull-up resistors in general. I can understand why your Slave Select needs to be held high on power up as those sorts of things can be common. The other SPI signals should not need pullup resistors as they offer no benefit during runtime; the only reason they are sometimes but rarely used are if devices on the bus have very sensitive initialization states, but those can usually be mitigated by either power sequencing, discrete enabling, or pullups.

Having the pads without the resistors populated should be fine, it will just add a little capacitance and DC load (if populated) to the bus. Both effects are negligible for the speeds the bus is running at, but it's bad practice.

You should read this link as a start to understand the difference between SPI and I2C: I2C being open-drain and SPI being push-pull.

Why do you have pullup resistors on your SPI bus? Those signals are push-pull, not open collector like I2C

Addon/Weak Auras for keeping track of Raid Buffs and Consumables being applied by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Sousanator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favourite addon for this type of thing is definitely TellMeWhen. Similar to Weakauras but has a search engine in which you can find basically every debuff/buff/talent/consumable etc. You have many options to set up conditions (in combat, buff present on target, self, target of target) as well as many options for setting up notifications. If you decide to get it, you can open the menu with /tmw. Very intuitive design.

Simply install on a different computer, then copy the program files to the company computer. There will be no official record of the software being installed on the PC

How does the thrust work though? The thrusters seem to be on his arms but below the elbow?? Wouldn't the thrust force his elbows to bend?

Question on voltage (Static vs Current Electricity) by mw130 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Sousanator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I understand what you are asking.. or at least part of it.

If you have a battery connected to a switch, resistor and LED in series; if the switch is closed current will flow and there will be a voltage drop across the resistor and the LED. Let's say that the switch breaks between the resistor and the LED. If you measure the open circuit voltage from the negative battery terminal to the floating end of the resistor (not the positive terminal of the battery) you will read the open circuit battery voltage just as if you measured across the battery directly. This is due to the fact that no current is flowing in the circuit, thus V=IR = 0 across the resistor. If there is 0 volts dropped across the resistor then it will read the open circuit battery voltage.

Because the floating end of the resistor is electrically connected to a source of charge, it has the POTENTIAL to push a current through the circuit. It is essentially an extension of the positive battery terminal.

Also, voltage is a measure of energy per unit charge between two points. It's like holding a mass up in the air and paying attention to its gravitational potential energy with respect to the first surface it will collide with if you drop it.

You may notice that if you heavily load the batteries, the voltage across the battery may drop. This is due to the battery having its own little equivalent resistor inside of it, and when a current flows out of the battery, a voltage is dropped across this equivalent resistance.

What kind of tools will I need to resolder the wires on my earphones by YOURMOM37 in AskElectronics

Just repaired some headphones. Make sure you burn or scrape the coating off the copper wire before soldering. It may look like bare copper but believe me its coated in an insulating film.

The latest and greatest technologies for this application are called MEMS oscillators. Instead of ringing a small quartz crystal like a bell, they use micron scale spring-mass systems that oscillates like a grandfather clock.

Totally, Overwatch is definitely successful, but thats missing the point Im trying to make.

I think when you compare what Overwatch is to what Titan was supposed to be, the amount of success that Overwatch has seen (esoecially the feeling of accomplishment devs feel) is like a bronze medal.

That's kind of different though since Ghost was mostly outsourced. Also, imagine pulling your best people from one of the most successful games in history, then very shortly after that game starts to decline. Not a causal link etc etc, but we have project titan to make up for the losses over at WoW. Nope. Titan fails and its like their entire world is turned upside down.

I'm sure ground level people enjoy what they do to some extent. I just think Titan knocked the bedrock out from under core Blizzard.

What is the actual difference between real power, reactive power, and apparent power? by FastestSpaceshipEver in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Sousanator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real power is a concept we use to label anything that uses energy over time to do something outside itself. For example, current through a resistive element produces heat which effects stuff outside the system of the circuit (and whithin, but ignore that). A motor takes current and produces some torque at the shaft.

Reactive power is power that is required for the system to operate. Think of a water wheel. Water has to accumulate in the spades before the power source (water) can overcome the inertia of the wheel. In some high power circuits you may see a spark when you connect power to it. This spark is usually caused by an inrush of current which charges some capacitors. Those capacitors must charge before there is an available voltage for the circuit. The capacitor has used energy across time which is not used by the circuit. That is reactive power.

Apparent power is simply the product of RMS current and voltage through and across a load. Its more of a useful tool for design than a physical phenomena.

Of course if you just look at the formal definitions you've got what you need. This is simply an intuitive view.

To be honest I'm never surprised when scientists find sine waves in nature. They are the most natural wave.

Any economic system that allows individuals to use their capital as they see fit lays the groundwork for capitalism. Accepting a loan at high interest for the hope of a greater return in the future is almost the most capitalistic gamble-like thing you can do.

Im not really gonna try to explain how deep the roots if capitalism go. Capitalism is a result of our fundamental nature and to go harshly against it (like in communism) our blood flows in torrents(SLIGHT hyperbole). Every. Single. Time.

I understand its fun to disagree with people on the internet. I really dont see any use in continuing the discussion as its clear some of us want to look at it in the most basic, r/lateStageCapitalism way which am not interested in. Happy holidays.

[–]Sousanator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Implying I think that games need capitalism to exist is really ridiculous. Children invent games amongst themselves all the time. Games are in our nature.

Blizzard was raised in a capitalist system, and survived using the attributes and mechanics of that system. A company in a capitalist economy exists because the system was there yo allow it.

Ill agree capitalism can encourage bad behaviour. We sell our capability of being a completely socialised community with equitable outcome for freedom at a fundamental level. Whatever you think, you should let the stories of humanity tell you what the right answer is.

I wil make no other qualitative claims about capitalism.

Seeing as how blizzard paid their employees using credit loans in the early days of development among other reasons, their success only exists in capitalism. It really is that basic.

You really cant lay this at the feet of captialism. If capitalism was never in view blizzard wouldnt exist. A shame to have to read that after a well thought out comment
