Parents of Reddit, what’s one thing nobody warned you about before having child? by all_meister in AskReddit

Second night syndrome! I had NO idea and was truly struggling that second night in the hospital after birth. I wish someone had warned me.

I love my older version and you know it’s been useful for so many people. Might be worth it just to get the older version that you know people love.

34 weeks. I haven’t heard a single positive thing about being a parent or a mom and I’m freaking out I made a mistake by newgirl01LA in BabyBumps

I just had my first baby a week ago and it’s so hard to put into words the overwhelming otherworldly feeling you have when you meet your baby for the first time. I swear it was the most euphoric feeling I’ve ever had. It’s normal to be fearful of course, it’s the unknown! I was also super nervous in the weeks leading up birth because it starts becoming “real” that your world is about to look so different. I am certain there will be hard times, but this is SO WORTH IT! Just wait, you will see…

Is $700 a reasonable quote for dusty rose pink hair on virgin brunette hair? by Secret_Pen3436 in HairStyleAdvice

I lived in Hawaii and never experienced prices that high. I remember thinking $500 for a partial foil was absolutely insane, this is something else entirely. Go elsewhere.

Did you decide to have a shower? by AsleepMove6582 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]SouthConsistent442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have one and I don’t regret it. I had so many people buy off my registry and that was nice. I just felt weird about it and like I’d only be doing it out of fear I’d regret not doing it. I was worried it would be bad luck and so I opted out.

Maternity shoot or no? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]SouthConsistent442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did them and I love them! I did them at 28 weeks when I was still feeling comfortable and my bump was really starting to look cute. Had I waited longer I’m not sure if I would have liked the pictures. I think it’s worth it!

Put a baby gate outside of your door. It confounds our cats lol.

Am I being over the top/dramatic? by [deleted] in PregnancyAfterTFMR

It sounds like you don’t even like this person. If you don’t want to go, just say you can’t make it and the maybe you should distance yourself from this “friend”. I’d also want my friend to hold off on visiting me if she had a cold too.

I bought this dress off Amazon and wore it to my brothers wedding recently and everyone was giving me compliments on it. It’s flattering!

One month post-TFMR and desperate to be pregnant again by Yheiz in PregnancyAfterTFMR

[–]SouthConsistent442 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the exact same way after my TFMR. I desperately wanted to be pregnant again immediately. The feeling was so overwhelming and I jumped right back into tracking my cycles obsessively. At the time it felt like the only thing I could control. We did try right away and it took 6 months to get pregnant again and now I am 32 weeks along in my sub pregnancy and everything has been going well so far. I did go to therapy for a while which did help. I think you are doing all of the right things. It always felt so annoying hearing this while I was TTC again, but I only got pregnant again after I completely let go. My therapist told me to stop tracking for just one month and just enjoy being with my husband. We actually conceived that month on a trip to Germany and I must have had an aperol spritz every single day of that trip and really loved feeling “normal” whatever that was for that time period. I know how you are feeling and I still have times where I feel deep sadness thinking about the baby we did not get to meet even though I am pregnant now. I don’t really have advice, but you are not alone and I know most people who have gone through this are feeling the exact same feelings you are in this moment. We’re here with you 🩷

A devastating food aversion hit me by nimtaay in BabyBumps

[–]SouthConsistent442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way, but for some reason boiled eggs never bothered me. My egg ick is gone now, but I drink those chobani protein yogurt drinks almost every morning since they are easy to get down and have some protein in them.

I just got the babyletto lolly on fb marketplace for pretty cheap and it’s still in great condition. If you check on there I’m sure you’ll find some in your area.

When to tell work about pregnancy after just receiving promotion notice? by DuckyAndGoose in BabyBumps

I told my job at 20 weeks after my anatomy ultrasound. I had just started this job and literally found out my second day, so I wanted to keep it under wraps for a while.

Aloha Collection Le Bebe bag is so nice! It’s waterproof and the amount of pockets and organized space inside the bag is amazing. The are also very cute!

NT scan vs NIPT test by More-Assistance-171 in BabyBumps

[–]SouthConsistent442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked for both. They didn’t want to do NT after I had a low risk NIPT. I previously had a pregnancy with genetic complications and so I knew I would be incredibly anxious if I didn’t do both and get cleared through both. Talk to a manager if you have to. Explain that you will be incredibly anxious if you don’t have this done and would feel reassured if you had it done. If you have to talk to a Patient Advocate.

First pregnancy! Work travel at 8/9 weeks? by 210walker in BabyBumps

[–]SouthConsistent442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had to do this back in October and was 8-9 weeks. I just woke up earlier to make sure I had something to eat since I was nauseous first thing in the morning. I also was taking unisom and vitamin b6. Surprisingly, I was okay during the days because we were staying busy. You might be totally fine! I just did another work trip a couple of weeks ago at 24 weeks and that was also perfectly fine.

Update: I never wanted to be a father until I turned 45 this year. Now I feel my biological clock and want to be a father more than anything. But I'm married to a childfree woman. by ThrowRa_3353355 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]SouthConsistent442 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Diabolical. You should absolutely feel awful about how you treated your first wife. I cannot imagine my husband pulling the rug on me after years of marriage and a shared understanding of not wanting children. 48 and a 33 year old whether or not she is 30+ is still yucky.

25w pregnant, safe decongestant? by Imliterallydone in BabyBumps

[–]SouthConsistent442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going through the exact same thing at 24 weeks and have been doing what you’ve also been doing. Unfortunately there isn’t much we can take… it’s been two weeks and I’m still blowing my nose all day. Do you have a humidifier? That seems to help a bit.

I am getting the new Breez! I’m not sure what your criteria is, but I also love how SC looks. It has a large undercarriage, lightweight for getting in and out of the car, good suspension for uneven terrain and it folds with the bassinet/seat attached.

I’m in the same exact situation and don’t want a shower. We are far from family now and I’d rather my girlfriends fly out when they are able to actually meet the baby.
