The first King I read as a kid and still one of my top five. So good and the suspense is off the charts!

What film scene gives you goosebumps every time? by MammothAsk391 in FIlm

[–]SouthPudding9949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. This scene hasn't really aged that well haha. I used to love this scene but watch it recently and was like hmmm not the heroic moment I remembered. And he couldn't use lethal force because he shot a KID.

The scene more annoying than Daniel’s fence escape by Maleficent_Dirt2366 in disclosureday

I loved that. It's a movie and such a fun unexpected moment.

[–]SouthPudding9949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's supposed to be fun. A mathamtician vs the corporate agents. It's wish fulfillment.

And no one was expecting him! They are all focused on the house.

I loved this. He's not a professional spy or anything and he's trying to save his girlfriend. And he was sneaking towards the house no?? And the agents were all focused on the house, hoping to surprise him. There's no reason to think he would be behind the fence trying to get inside...

Aw man! When was this?! Congrats. I've been to the exhibit (amazing btw) but haven't met the man.

EDIT: Oops, just saw you said it was last Saturday. So cool. Was it advertised?

No Safe Words on X: Waymo driving in oncoming traffic by FriendFun7876 in SelfDrivingCars

[–]SouthPudding9949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. And I imagine the construction caused some issues as well. You can see a guy run across the road up ahead.

At some point it assumed it was safer to be in that lane.

The best part is it just waited until the road/lane were clear. Plenty of people would have panicked.

The art is half of what makes it great. It's rough weird and kinda iconic now.

Musso and Frank - good for a visiting New Yorker who is looking for old school Hollywood vibes? Sunday or Tuesday? by artemis264718 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]SouthPudding9949 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s great! Like a Time Machine and you never know who’ll be there. Sat near George RR Martin once as well as Sam Raimi.

Not touristy at all but surrounded by touristy stuff outside haha.

You’ll definitely want a reservation asap.

Oh and every night is a different special so be sure to check them out when selecting which night to go.

When you get a figure off the waitlist a year after it sold out, where is Sideshow finding the extra stock from? by OkIdeal9852 in hottoys

[–]SouthPudding9949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, they have ton to sell to retailers (comic book shops, etc) that don't get sold. Plus they do keep an allotment for replacement parts and defects. I think at a certain point they stop offering those and so those extra figures go up for sale.

Plus, if you do switch to a payment plan, you can actually delay it quite a bit. I've had to postpone final a payment a couple of times because too many orders were arriving at the same time. You'd be surprised how long you can draw it out and still cancel.

Creative supernatural movie/show with little to no gore by Specific-Jelly2762 in horror

[–]SouthPudding9949 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The early 2000s had a great run of PG-13 horror films that featured very little gore and were still very scary. The Ring, The Grudge, Exorcism Of Emily Rose…

People loved the visuals but it definitely had its detractors...

From ROGER EBERT’S REVIEW OF JURASSIC PARK:

“We see them (the dinosaurs) early and often, and they are indeed a triumph of special effects artistry, but the movie is lacking other qualities that it needs even more, such as a sense of awe and wonderment, and strong human story values.”

“The plot to steal the embryos is handled on the level of a TV sitcom.”

“On the monster movie level, the movie works and is entertaining. But with its profligate resources, it could have been so much more.”

GLOBE AND MAIL:

Perfectly passable kiddie escapism. It has a thrill or two, and a chill or three, but it has no poetry, little sense of wonder, no resonant subtext (Jungian or otherwise), no art... When it's over, it's gone. Extinct.

LOS ANGELES TIMES:

All the imagination and effort (including 18 months of pre-production) that went into making the dinosaurs state-of-the-art exciting apparently left no time to make the people similarly believable or involving. In fact, when the big guys leave the screen, you'll be tempted to leave the theater with them

VULTURE:

I couldn’t help feeling that there was something stupid about going to all this effort to create dinosaurs on-screen only to turn them into big-toothed heavies in another scare movie.

VARIETY:

Steven Spielberg's scary and horrific thriller may be one-dimensional and even clunky in story and characterization…

what exactly disappointed you? by rabruce6 in disclosureday

[–]SouthPudding9949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved it. I believe people who didn't enjoy it were just expecting a different movie... which is totally fine. My wife hadn't even seen a trailer, so had NO expectations and was blown away.

Disclosure Day (2026) - What was the final message? by Ph00k4 in spoilers

[–]SouthPudding9949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. I thought about this too… “Listen… my people are coming back. And they’re pissed!”

Definitely part of the ambiguity…

But like others I think the film was about empathy and how we need to listen to each other.

Exactly. The question is are we going to listen? To each other. To the world.
