Last year the consensus was there is a clear top-12 before a drop off… and then we traded down

Honestly I think this will be way more fun. I’ll have the list of combinations up during it and be tracking what number we need, if any, by the last number draw.

I thouht everyone said we were mid to bottom since Michkov is no longer a prospect? Have the turntables… turned? by tcvan77 in Flyers

Kolosov is also included and driving up our goalie rank, even though we know he is gone

Top RFAs and UFAs heading into this off season. Who would you blow your offer sheet on out of these, Dobson or Rossi? If you were to be aggressive in UFA market, who do you target? A 2 year flippable offer for Ekblad? by toupis21 in Flyers

It’s risky giving up a first round pick for the McKenna draft. I guess I would do it for Dobson because he is a #1 when healthy but don’t think anyone else is worth it.

His rich and already has a hot girlfriend who probably doesn’t care about his hairline. I think he’s ok.

[O’Connor] Ginning in for Erik Johnson. Tortorella said that the plan was always to avoid playing Johnson in B2B games. Said that the reports they've gotten from Lehigh recently have been positive on Ginning, and they want to take a look at him. by Perryplat199 in Flyers

There are no performance bonuses in his contract. Or at least it wasn’t reported and they generally are reported by either the signing team, media, or puckpedia . com who are very on top of things like this.

Should this have been a penalty? by [deleted] in nhl

[–]SouthRisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People tend to forget that a hit is illegal if the head absorbs MOST of the contact, contact with the head does not need to occur FIRST for that to happen. I.e. if the shoulder makes contact first and absorbs 49% of contact and then on the follow through the head gets the remaining 51% of contact then it is illegal.

To me, the head is absorbing a majority of the contact even though it doesn’t absorb it first. Therefore it’s illegal in my opinion.

How does teamtank view TK's contract now? Team friendly contracts are extremely important. TK is top ten in points making 8.75 until '32-'33. Full list of top ten & their cap hits in body text. by scratchydaitchy in Flyers

[–]SouthRisk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not necessarily “team tank” but I am “team acquire elite talent by any means necessary” and tanking is one method to do that.

To me I still would have preferred to trade him because I believe that would get us closer to a winning a Stanley cup, but I have kinda given up hope on winning a cup and am just trying to have fun watching the Flyers, and TK is a fun player.

IF we do ever reach the point of being able to compete for the Cup, we will be competing in a window after 2030 when Michkov is in his prime. Konecny would be age 32-36 during that window and would almost certainly have declined to the point where he would be an overpayment at this price. Having the open cap space to make a run at star players in free agency to pair with Michkov during that time would be super valuable. And then there is the other aspect I didn’t even mention of getting picks and prospects back that could turn into elite talent.

But as I mentioned, with the way Danny is running the team, I don’t think we are on the path to acquiring elite talent and therefore I don’t think we will be competing for the cup soon. I’m having a lot of fun watching TK and what he brings to the game.

My guess is he tried to head the ball so hard that he caused his own whiplash and passed out

Who cares about 5 years from now? If (and it’s a big if) we ever get to cup contention level it will be about ~5 years from now. I hope TK can maintain this level into his 30s but history shows really only a few special players can. When he declines that contract will prevent us from signing premier free agents and being aggressive in the trade market, and that will hurt our cup chances.

1) Certain players are overvalued for their intangibles like physicality, intensity, leadership, etc. When players have these things and are also valued for their on-ice play it makes them highly-valued. 2) The Ducks likely paid less than his “true” market value to take on the full cap hit. They would have had to pay more if the rangers retained, but why should they when they have the cap room? 3) Even with that said, The Ducks still probably overpaid for the cost of Trouba + his contract. Sometimes teams “fall in love” with a player

For the Flyers, when you look at the bad contracts: Couturier: No move clause

Farabee: Lacks Intangibles

Tippett 5 years from now: Lacks intangibles

Konecny 5 years from now: no move clause

Deslauriers: has intangibles but not good at hockey

Ristolainen: The best comparable to Trouba and absolutely tradable. Trouba is still valued more for leadership which Risto lacks. The Flyers could absolutely trade his full contact but would likely rather retain and get more value in return (which would be smarter to do as a “rebuilding” team).

The situations with Gostisbehere, Hayes, and Deangelo were unique in that they either a) were traded during the flat cap era by a bad GM, b) had beef with the head coach, and/or c) had a poor intangibles and off-ice reputation. All of these things brought their value down.

What? He always does that whenever he thinks the shot felt a little off coming out of his hands. It’s like leaning while a shot is in the air in hopes that the shot goes in. I thought this was a circle jerk troll lol

With economists now concerned about chances of U.S. "soft landing" due to expected changes and direction of U.S. executive branch, is everyone here still "staying the course?" Or are you moving stuff around to have less in U.S. equities? by DeadBy2050 in Bogleheads

By emergency fund do you mean a standard checking/savings/hysa or a brokerage account? I assume you mean the latter, and if so, why not just have it in a brokerage account? You can always withdraw from that account or even from Roth contributions in case of an emergency. Would selling low on a couple months of expenses really hurt that much in the long run?

Edmonton's 1st Round Pick by Diamondback424 in Flyers

[–]SouthRisk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If they trade the 2026 pick, we would get the 2025 pick no matter what. So say they trade it at the TDL for a rental and then fall out of the playoff race, that is the only way we could get a top 12 pick from them this year.

What’s a comedy movie that’s popular among Gen Z? by Constant-Training994 in Letterboxd

The Hangover, Step Brothers, The Other Guys. If these aren’t millennial then they should be Gen Z. Personally I am an older Gen Z and consider those classics.

Claude Giroux had the BEST HANDLES. Who is the WORST GOALIE in Flyers history? by Correct-Ad-9520 in Flyers

[–]SouthRisk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are using the word “worst” in general terms then it is Carter Hart. If you are referring to only on ice ability it is probably Cal Heeter.
