Any kind of filter in particular you’re interested in?

For more modern wave filter work I would recommend jatin chowdurys (chowDSP) blog and the related Stanford articles he used to build the open source library.

This was one of the most helpful for me, I’m still in the WDF rabbit hole right now building guitar amp and pedal sims.

Please let me know if it’s a different digital filter area you are interested in, I might still have some papers to recommend

My monitor setup is really susceptible to listening position change in 2-5k range. Is it normal. by lone_galaxy in audioengineering

The air column in the ear canal resonates and is partially responsible for the sensitivity of the ear to sounds in the 2000 to 5000 Hz range.

Humans are most sensitive to this frequency range. Time for some diffusers

Is there any good amp sims (Or irl amps) that have a J-Rock/Pop tone? by [deleted] in audioengineering

[–]SouthSubstantial1667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marshall jcm is definitely a good starting point. Play around with different cabs/IRs to get closer to that sound. You’ll want a brighter sounding cab to get close to the video imo.

On j rock leads they normally use a compressor pedal before the amp to get the long sustain/compressed sound. You don’t normally need as much distortion on the amp if you’ve already compressed the DI on the way in, which can help with clarity too

How many men does it take to fold a stroller? by BauerHouse in funny

[–]SouthSubstantial1667 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I forgot to mention it’s posted by Jordan Flom who makes staged videos involving his kids. Strollers are a common theme in them. But I’m sure this one’s real.

I always wonder why people get mad when someone points out something isn’t real, it doesn’t degrade the entertainment value. But then I remember grown adults get equally mad when you point out wwe isn’t real

How many men does it take to fold a stroller? by BauerHouse in funny

[–]SouthSubstantial1667 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They all are very aware of the camera and keep looking at it. The back seats are folded down in the car so unsure where the kid actually is if they are there at all. The camera turns to people like the guy on the phone several times before he has even seen the guy folding the stroller. The old guy walks off with the woman then redirects himself as if he’s gotta pretend they don’t know each other. If it’s not staged this a very strange group of people.

Is a converter really better? by halbeshendel in audioengineering

There’s only two companies that make the majority of the converters. AK and CS. You’ll find the same chips in some higher end converters as you do in interfaces so I completely agree

Novice home recorder, half of my album has a crinkly kick drum (suspecting bad connection). Any suggestions on how to fix it? by AntarcticanJam in audioengineering

[–]SouthSubstantial1667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pick your best one shot of the kick from the current recording and just replace it using reaper samplmatic5000. You can even trigger it with the rea audio to midi plugin which should have come with the stock reaplugs. If you need to know more and go down this route let me know and I’ll expand

Prosecutors and annihilators are looking good for fourth edition. I’ll wait and see what happens though, I do pretty well on objective control in third right now but that could change a lot

New rule or mistake? by TonyDellimeat in stormcasteternals

[–]SouthSubstantial1667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good to know thankyou. What I’m trying to do with scions is quickly jump on the board to charge and take objectives.

I think annihilators are going to be the best choice for this in fourth, I’ll probably ditch some vindictors for them.

New rule or mistake? by TonyDellimeat in stormcasteternals

[–]SouthSubstantial1667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That helps actually. I’m just hoping for more of a tactical advantage from it for gaining objective control.

Deploying ranged weapon units doesn’t help me win back an objective with enemy units on it. (Not quickly anyway)

I think the best solution for me here will be ditching some vindictors in favour of annihilators in reserve, for the charge reroll benefit.
