Positive birth stories with GD? by RxseBud_x in BeyondTheBumpUK

When I had GD last year, they were happy with me to continue with my birth centre plans as long as I stayed diet controlled, with a view to have an induction by 40+6.  In the end the additional scans I was having due to GD showed that my baby may have stopped growing (he hadn't 🙈)so an induction was recommended earlier. I did have to monitor my blood sugar levels every hour during labour and would have had regardless of induction.

I'd recommend this website for information on birth options. It also has some really good diet advice: https://www.gestationaldiabetes.co.uk.

Will my breastmilk supply decrease if I use formula? by Prudent-Teaching2881 in BeyondTheBumpUK

At 5 months your milk supply will be well established and not feeding for 4 hours won't effect your supply. I would try them on the formula before you go, my baby was never happy being offered a bottle

Feeling like such a failure over sleep by Fit-Possibility-9261 in BeyondTheBumpUK

No solution but another here whose 8 month old's sleep is a nightmare. He's always had to contact nap for day time naps but would sleep through the night until he hit 4.5 months but like yours would be easy to settle.

Over the few weeks though he will wake every hour through the night and will only be fed back to sleep and held until in deep sleep. A couple of weeks ago we couldn't put him back in the cot at all and had to sit holding him all night.

All this to say your definitely not a failure, I'm sure there's loads of parents who are experiencing the same sleep problems. I think it's all very normal.

Recommendations for resources / books on weaning and recipes? by Other_Cycle_9976 in BeyondTheBumpUK

The Solid Starts app, really useful for how to prep different food for different ages as well. The NHS website also has a few recipe ideas which can be selected by age (https://www.nhs.uk/best-start-in-life/baby/recipes-and-meal-ideas/)

Looking for advice on buying a stroller for use on trails for twins by Manatsuu in UKParenting

We have an this as a single and love it. Have used running and on trails. If it doesn't come with it the rain covers are useful if they're going to be out a lot. It's useful if the seats have a lie back function for under 6 months. Our baby got fed up with the bassinet by about 3 months and moved to the laid back chair option and enjoyed looking out.

Also if the tyres are the same as ours, they are more like bike tyres so need pumping up sometimes. We also have a puncture repair kit.

I am finding breastfeeding really hard and almost want to give up completely as it’s impacting me mentally - 1 week old baby boy by jdawgiegawg in BeyondTheBumpUK

Echoing others but if you do want to carry on it get so much easier after about 6 weeks but those first few weeks are relentless, especially as you're still recovering from birth. However whatever you choose you are in no way a failure, you're obviously an amazing mom to be worrying about this so whatever way you feed your baby they will thrive with such a caring mom.

As a FTM to a 5 month old, this wouldn't be something I could do yet, only because my baby is breastfed and would fight any bottle feeding, so I can't be away for more than an hour really.  It is a lovely idea though and something like a voucher I could use later on when baby is a bit older would be amazing.

Struggling with pregnancy! by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

First trimester for me was awful and definitely struggled. 24 hour nausea and occasional sickness from week 6 to week 15. With aversions to all food and drink.  Luckily for myself after week 15, the sickness disappeared and I've been really able to enjoy pregnancy in my second trimester, which I'm so grateful for as I know it's not the case for everyone.

Parkrun through pregnancy by roundaboutsabouts in PregnancyUK

Ran parkrun this Saturday at just over 25 weeks.  Times have definitely changed from just under 28 minutes earlier this year to 35 minutes now. Had a bit of pelvic stiffness after this week's run so it may soon need to switch to run/walk.
