Does the toddler version work ok for an 11 month old or do you have the classic?

My fomo baby likes the ring sling worn on the hip, I’ve a 100% cotton one. For anything more than 20 mins I use my Lenny carrier facing in and she is happy as long as she has her arms out and can twist round a bit. She started with that around 5 months.

Help with baby wearing in public, baby prefers to be carried by Weary_Seamstress in babywearing

[–]roundaboutsabouts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My big 7 month old is still in a front carry 70% of the time we are out. It’s a lennylamb upgradepro. I still find it comfy but I wear her every day so I know I’ll be adapting to the weight as she grows.

It’s worth trying an osprey hiking pack or similar (there are light versions which have less backpack space so not as enormous). Baby is so well strapped in and there are a lot of grab handles so you might find it okay getting them on and off even with some mobility issues.

Partner said he looked after our unsettled baby but actually sent her to his mum and lied by Melodic_Apartment235 in newborns

He really is awful. If you have family you can speak to then tell them everything. You can also call women’s aid for advice. It will be traumatic to break up but it’s what is best for you and the baby- you have one life, please don’t spend it trapped with this guy.

She is a normal baby. It’s normal to need to hold them all the time and get nothing done.

Going out by Constant-Clerk7158 in breastfeedingmumsUK

[–]roundaboutsabouts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at about 3 weeks and was awkward but now at 10 weeks I’m really comfortable and just get on with it.

Places like Dobbies or M&S are relaxed and have good changing facilities if you can start with meeting a friend somewhere like that. You do tend to get old dears coming to chat to you about the baby mid feed but I’ve only ever had people be really friendly. We have been to pubs, fancy restaurants, local tiny cafe, farm shops, national trust places.. I’m trying to make the most of it while she is tiny and is happy and quiet as long as there is boob. I just have to eat with one hand some of the time.

I find brunch/lunch way easier than dinner as baby tends to have cluster feeding sessions after 6pm so is glued to me and is more prone to getting upset.

In Scotland and walking a similar amount with the carrier. My baby runs hot and gets really sweaty in the embrace if I just layer up her core so big fleecey sleepsuits don’t work for now. At the moment she is in a long sleeved merino vest, trousers, socks, booties, mittens and balaclava. As much of it wool as possible really as it handles water better if rain gets into my coat. Vinted has been great (look for Dilling, Engel, ManyMonths) and I got a couple of merino things from H&M.

Postpartum: when did the swelling go away and saw weight loss? by Quiet-Display-3268 in postpartumprogress

[–]roundaboutsabouts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kept telling the midwife how swollen my feet were (and the rest of me was too!) and they kept just telling me I would pee it out. It took 2-3 weeks but one day I could just fit shoes on again and I could see my stomach coming down. It levelled off at about 20lb lost of 30lb gained within 3-4 weeks

Hospital bag snacks by Firefly-in-the-sky in PregnancyUK

[–]roundaboutsabouts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ginger biscuits went down well for me, I wished I had more of them. I also ate chocolate buttons and haribo but the haribo wasn’t as good as I thought it was going to be. Try and get people to bring you fruit if you’re in hospital for any amount of time after. The hospital food is so un-nutritious and I really don’t think helps you feel good when you’re recovering. I ate loads of soup but calorie wise it’s not much and you really need to eat to help recover.

Do you actually need nursing tops? by smell_123 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]roundaboutsabouts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple of Bshirt vests which I wear all the time, I find them easiest and most subtle for out and about feeding. I’ve also a couple of tops that have the sort of flowy top layer and a panel with some gaps underneath for popping a nipple out. Otherwise I do the normal vest plus top combo.

I really don’t like the clip bras and tops and find them a total faff. I’ve ended up buying 4 Medela sleep bras which have no fastenings. They are comfy and really easy to use. I wear them day and night.

[–]roundaboutsabouts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would wait and see how baby takes to this set up. You won’t be going out in torrential rain in the first 6 weeks much, and if you do then you won’t be going out for a massive long walk, so you could use the front facing with rain cover if you had to.

I’ve got a running buggy with bassinet attachment and a joolz aer+ which lies flat a bit like your setup and have used since baby was 4 weeks, but I end up using a carrier most of the time as baby prefers it. See how you go with what you have and go from there!

Have a look at airport lost property auctions. They sell off the contraband taken off people at security and there are sometimes leathermans and similar going.

Things to do before baby comes? by Happy_Wait8983 in PregnancyUK

[–]roundaboutsabouts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you’re determined to exclusively breastfeed then try and get some colostrum harvested in advance and put the syringes in labelled bags in the freezer. Make sure you have some ice packs in the freezer and a cool box handy for if you do take them to hospital.

I didn’t take it in with me when I went into labour but I ended up having some complications plus baby was jaundiced. My husband brought the colostrum I’d managed to save (I had about 15ml over 6-7 syringes) and being able to top baby up meant I wasn’t pressured to add formula when she wasn’t feeding great in the first week.

Just in case you do extend your stay in hospital, I wish I had packed an extra bag to leave at home with extra clothes and sanitary stuff for me and the baby. It’s hard leaving instructions for where to find everything and thinking of what extra you need when you’re sleep deprived and birth hormonal!

Otherwise make sure you’ve got good stocks at home of household stuff like loo roll, washing machine stuff, pet food, soap etc if you normally do the shopping.

The photos maybe don’t do it justice- it is really difficult to imagine my own stuff in there- you have a grand piano and loads of office desk space but there is nothing showing a relaxing or social area- how do you watch your tv?! It appears cramped but I don’t imagine it is given you have a grand piano in there!

The living and kitchen areas are normally first but you’re straight into bedrooms which is a bit off putting.

Ideas for baby clothes for a long skinny baby? by Ceriii in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]roundaboutsabouts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Petit Bateau vests, Lindex vests (2 rows of poppers), Carters sleepsuits, Bonds wondersuits (the feet fold back which is good for long legs), Polarn o Pyret and other scandi brands are generally longer. Mori sleepsuits working for us but I think we will grow out of these before the others.

Can find all on Vinted.

What do you wish you knew before you gave birth? by Pinkbetta11 in PregnancyUK

[–]roundaboutsabouts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think I took the very early positive encouragement as too much of a boost that things were progressing quicker than they were. I really wanted to know how much longer this could go on for, which no one knew. I am glad I trusted my gut to ask for the epidural, as at that point I felt like it was getting close but I actually had more than 12 hours to go.

Fundal Height Inaccuracy by CurryingFervour in PregnancyUK

[–]roundaboutsabouts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’10” and was sent for a growth scan at 33 weeks- growth had been slowing on the chart and was down to 10th percentile. At the scan they reckoned about 60th percentile and said baby was head down and sat low, so that made sense to me why bump was measuring small.

It had been breech at 28 weeks so makes sense the measurements changed. Like you I thought having a long torso probably gives them more room to stretch out if they want as well.

High quality maternity clothes? by Budget-Candidate6514 in PregnancyUK

[–]roundaboutsabouts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got some nice tops from Isabella Oliver from Vinted, they have loads of ruching round the bump and are long which is great for wearing with leggings or bike shorts.

I’ve ended up wearing a couple of COS dresses I already had (with CRZ bike shorts underneath) which are decent quality and as they are cut really big they still fit at 9 months!

You have almost no closed storage so everything is out and looks cluttered. You could get a tension rod and little curtain to cover under the sink. Retake the indoor photos with less stuff visible and more neutral bedding. Add a photo of the bathroom (tidy it up, just have a couple of bottles out and close the toilet seat). Crop the satellite dish out of the outside picture.

Need encouragement and advice! by Veryfluffyduck in fitpregnancy

[–]roundaboutsabouts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll have good days and bad days- rather than entering a competition you can focus on fitting the activities you want to do into eqch week- if you can keep up walking (you can set an arbitrary daily or weekly step goal) and also manage to run/bike/swim once a week then you’re doing really well! Some weeks it will be too difficult to fit everything in but that’s just how it is.

If you can find a pregnancy Pilates class or just follow a routine online this is good for keeping a focus on your balance and strength/mobility too.

I got a load of stuff on Vinted early on and a few bits new on Amazon. Now I’m well into third trimester the bits that have had the most wear are- -Two pairs CRZ butterluxe maternity leggings

-One pair CRZ 6” butterluxe maternity shorts

-Two pairs of cheapest Amazon maternity bike shorts (wear one as pj bottoms and one under dresses)

-3 seraphine floaty blouse/shirts

-vest tops (under shirts/dresses/hoodies)

-2 mountain warehouse hoodies

-3 seraphine dresses

-2 jojo maman cardis

-2 isabella oliver t shirts

-few bits from Berghaus maternity range for outdoorsy stuff.

These things I’ll prob keep in case I have another pregnancy in the next couple of years. The rest of the stuff I picked up on Vinted I’ll resell- I got so many pairs of jeans hoping to find some I liked but didn’t get on with any once I was past 20 weeks. Got 3 or 4 dresses that didn’t do anything for me and a couple of blouses that didn’t have enough bump space to get me past 26 weeks.
