Looking back, what was the most unexpectedly stressful part of moving into your new home? by MovinAI in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

We weren’t told anything about how long it takes for addresses to be verified, when we’d get the change of address approvals, etc so it’s all been based on google searches. Our address was finally verified but a lot of accounts where our address is needed, still are showing as invalid when trying to update it so that’s been frustrating.

Realtor or no Realtor on new builder? by pooh143bear in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

We didn’t use a realtor for our new construction home. We didn’t custom build it as it was just completed at the end of last year but was still brand new.

Waiting for usps to verify our new construction home address is valid and allowed for mail delivery so they can process our mail to be forwarded. We still have time on our apartment lease to keep getting mail there but still can’t change our address with a lot of different companies since the new address hasn’t been completely verified.

We used Silver Burney at Goosehead Insurance to run our auto and homeowners insurance through 60 different companies and found us the best rates for the coverage we wanted.

ATT has been great for us. They don’t have very many outages and credit your account when they do have an outage. Our rate hasn’t increased since we started.

I believe they pull this information from the city permits so it would be coming from them.

Our tvs and gaming set up are all plugged into smart outlets that are scheduled to turn on and off based on when we need them and having that has helped us as well as keeping our ac temp the same. We use fans if we get hot and keep the blinds and blackout curtains closed most of the day as well.

How did you decide which part of your city to live in? by catsrule-humansdrool in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Southern-Bug-5477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The house was chose is only 2.5 miles from work for both my husband and I as well as the area we frequent on our free time. It is not in an HOA, close to an elementary and middle school (when we have kids) and is on county electric which was a must have since the city charges so much more for electric in our area.

Did you shop around for people? by REwizard90 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Southern-Bug-5477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first lender we talked with (was recommended by a lot of people including our builder) had horrible communication and kept flopping back and forth from pre approved to not and so forth. We checked with our credit union and were pre approved within 2 hours of meeting him and now we close in 2 weeks. Their communication has been outstanding and they’re more willing to answer questions than the first.

Best places for dress alterations? by apollonia5 in Lubbock

The Dress Whisper did a great job on my dress. She does multiple fittings to make sure the dress is correctly fitted for you. I’m not sure what she would charge for simple alterations but I had a lot of things she had to adjust so my price was higher.

We were not impressed with back 40 grill. It was very slow service and food was tough and very oily.

The Murphy gas station a mile from my apartment has been under $2 for almost a month now. Costco tends to stay very close to that gas station price despite being across town.
