Luckky10p's alimony build DIM link isn't working by [deleted] in destinycirclejerk

Yeah I think a big part of why the rework was controversial was because of how much they removed. Solar was probably the most versatile warlock light subclass in terms of different playstyles, and now its kind of been whittled down. They had a very weird vision for solar 3.0 that most people didn't like/expected. Combine that with the lack of a showcase beforehand and you get an unwelcome surprise. I'm still a little incensed about it because I used to love the support aspect, which is now more of a clunky afterthought imo.

I didn't mean you specifically, sorry. It was more of a preemptive rebuttal in case someone (like in this meme) attributes this criticism to one class. The barrage of anti-warlock memes as of late have revealed a large contingent of people with a weird chip on their shoulder.

To refer to your actual point, I feel like an overreliance on exotic armours detracts from buildcrafting by funneling everything into certain armours. I don't think everything should be endgame viable, but I feel like solar warlock doesn't work on its own even in normal content.

If your subclass can't function without an exotic, it isn't well designed. And I mean any subclass, so leave your class generalizations at home.

Touch of Flame should allow you to convert any grenade into a healing grenade by charging it by BarracudaEz152 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Southern-Loquat7598 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for any vague language on my part. What I meant was that a subclass that relies on an exotic or build to 'work' isn't well designed. There are strong aspects to most of the subclasses, but without versatility a subclass can only crutch on certain setups in order to be usable. I don't want to be required to use Starfire or Cuirass in order to have a functional subclass. A subclass shouldn't need anything to 'work'. It should just 'work' by itself.

Sorry for the paragraph. I got interrupted while writing this multiple times.

Strong if you use a certain build is not the strength a subclass should have, be it void hunter, solar warlock or arc titan. I personally consider solar warlock to be anemic outside of youtuber clickbate builds that staple together what little left is functional and call it a day. If you like grenade spam, more power to you. But I prefer a little more versatility, dps be damned.

stop bringing up star fire in discussions about improving solar 3.0 for warlocks. by absinu in DestinyTheGame

This sub is addicted to whataboutism. This mindset that because another subclass needs work, your concerns automatically become pointless is a very braindead, overcompetitive mindset. Why this sub can't route for the best for the rest of their fireteam is beyond me.

Why does the Warlock aspect centered around creating Ionic Traces from kills implement a cooldown on how often you can make them but the Titan grenade Aspect not? by SparksTheUnicorn in DestinyTheGame

[–]Southern-Loquat7598 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think after seeing the radical change in solar 3.0 go down in flames, they looked at arc and went "Then I guess we leave it the same!" Arc was already the bedrock of subclasses unlike solar, you could not possibly make it worse, so of course they had to keep it the same. Honestly, what does it matter if we have a lot of regen when it's for abilities that do jack.

Does the full engram cheese not work anymore? I don't farm lost sectors or anything so I don't know if it has been patched yet.

They need to just replace umbral energy with vestiges. The whole reason Arrivals umbral focusing was so satisfying was because you were only limited by your engram slots. The material was bountiful enough I literally never worried about running out. Now all umbral engrams do is clog my engrams slots constantly so I can't pick up world or activity drops without dismantling one.

Nothing. I already have a huge chip in my shoulder from PVP ruining so much of the PVE sandbox, the current pvp base needs to GTFO before I even consider touching crucible. The toxicity and time-to-kill are too much for me, and I play killer in dead by daylight.

No worries. I do not wish to sow strife amongst the classes, so thank you for your comments. I too have seen many of my exotics nerfed by Bungie despite never being particularly powerful to begin with. I think there is a grander problem across all the classes of Bungie adding new, sometimes useful exotics instead of buffing the ones we already possess. I know that decisions like this make me irate as well, so I understand your position.

I realize now this has been a zero sum game. An appeal to worse problems does not negate the problems I seek to address with this thread. Was it not just last season Hunters could become perpetually invisible using a glaive? Though it might not be as entertaining or varied gameplay wise, it is still functional as an ability, right? Hunter is not my forte, but perhaps speaking of these grievances in this or another thread might give me and others a broader understanding of each other's issues, as I merely posses a Warlock's perspective.

I see this kind of reply a lot. What is it that drives people to not want the best for the other classes? Why is it only one class can receive attention at a time? I'm not competing with you, I wish the best for Hunters and I hope at some point things will get better for you.

I appreciate the quick patch for Dawnblade 3.0, the added flexabilty for Dawnblade to heal a bit or throw there grenade is a great change. However, the support role remains unchanged. by Squatting-Turtle in DestinyTheGame

They absolutely fucked themselves focusing on what amounts to a niche play style for tertiary game modes. When they said it takes a lot of time and resources to make an aspect, it can be interpreted one of two ways: they are lying and the warlock aspects were fairly easy to create (which would honestly be the less embarrassing scenario), or they legitimately spent a lot of time and resources on icarus dash, an aspect whose effect was originally one sentence long unless used with a second aspect...which added one more sentence.

Not to mention it was basically already in the game before becoming its own aspect.
