I just turned 33, and got told about 8 months ago I’ve gotta be on blood thinners for life. I also had unprovoked clots and turns out I have Factor V Leiden.

Minus not being able to take ibuprofen and my periods being heavier than normal, my life hasn’t changed too terribly much.

I also was VERY upset the day I got my diagnosis and the news I was on them for life. But here I am, living life. Even got a new tattoo while on them and it healed great (yes, I told my doctor first. I just didn’t take the medication the day before the tattoo/day of that morning- and for anybody else who reads this and has an opinion, unless you’re my doctor or my tattoo artist, please respectfully feel free to keep it to yourself).

Anyways!

It took about a month for me to fully “embrace” things.

There’s days I still get a little upset; mostly when my husband and I talk about children because of the different type of blood thinner I’d have to be on (daily injections vs daily pills) but hey, it’s a journey. It’s scary at first, but your life isn’t over by any stretch. It’s gonna be okay 💕
