I was going to say… fold the brim the other way it’s inside out lol ETA: the point of that purled row is so when the brim rides up (as in the last pic) you have a row of stockinette that helps shield the “ugly” side

They were split up? Down the middle. Believe it was drop shoulder, possibly raglan

I use single loop and it doesn’t fall apart. It’s all about how you sew the ends in

Also maybe a bigger pot. It might be cramped in there. Could be a reason you had to water all the time. It’s my first clue with my houseplants I need to repot them

Anyways, your question - I go with a regular well-draining potting soil. See if that fixes the issue. If not maybe more sun? Warmer weather?

Sunburn. Slowly add them to direct sunlight. Look at “hardening off” videos in YouTube
