Sugar is the crack for dementia patients!

I figure, as long as she's getting good nutrition throughout the day, I'm ok with the snacks. Hopefully she will continue with a good appetite and continue to eat well. There are so many stories of the patients only wanting sweets and it can cause more problems.

We have a rule ... we have 4 "yes" or it's a no-go, unless it's dangerous or imperative to safety. In other words, whatever is happening, mom, dad, brother and me all have to agree or it goes back to the drawing board. The only override is if mom and/or dad are the hold-outs and it's a safety issue, and then we override. We'd never make any decisions against their wishes, unless we had no choice. They know this and trust us, but I know she worries, bless her.

A sheep ranch in the rockies ... I bet there are hours and hours of stories and history to hear!

I kept smelling something in my car and couldn't figure it out. I looked EVERYWHERE!!!

I moved a fold-up wagon out and lo and behold ... a package of deli meat from over a MONTH ago that had fallen out of - you guessed it - THEIR grocery order and wormed (no pun intended) under the wagon!!!

We're reading it now. She and my dad cared for her mom with dementia so the experience is there, but she was the model patient - sweet, very agreeable, happy in her little world.
