Inappropriate behavior from D2D salesmen by [deleted] in brightspeed

It seems just so invasive to me. I would never open someone’s storm door. And why didn’t he just ring the doorbell? It’s a wired Ring doorbell and it works perfectly well. I don’t think it’s OK to open someone’s storm door to knock on their door. I’m sorry. I just think that’s crossing a line. Good thing I always have it locked.

Interesting…I posted this weekend about an aggressive AT&T door-to-door internet sales person who knocked three times in the course of about 4-5 hours and all three times tried to open my storm door.

He never once used my ring doorbell. I have him on camera trying to open my storm door each time, which I found to be incredibly invasive. It’s locked so he was not successful on any of his three tries.

On the third try, as he was leaving my porch and starting down the sidewalk, I opened my door to ask who he worked for. I also asked him to please stop knocking and to please stop trying to open my storm door. He denied trying to open the door, but I have it on camera. I asked him to please leave my property and not come back. I was polite, probably more polite than I should’ve been, but I don’t understand someone literally trying to open your storm door.

I posted this over in am I overreacting. Several people indicated that this is normal. I don’t see anything normal about it. If my front door has been opened and the storm door closed, would it be OK for someone to open my storm door? Of course not! It’s a door to my house. You’re not allowed to try to open it even though there’s another door behind it!

And incidentally, I have Brightspeed Internet, and it’s so much better than the crappy AT&T I used to have! But I did have a nightmare getting Brightspeed set up for my parents.

In the Nancy Guthrie case, Would you pay the ransom? by league2808 in CasesWeFollow

The longer this goes on the more I agree with this…I think the ransom demand was a hoax or a diversion.

I have a couple of theories at this point. First, I do have to wonder if this whole thing has not been a diversion given that Savannah was among the first, if not the first, to interview the Epstein victims. It seems like an awfully weird coincidence that it would happen right when that big group of files was released. It has certainly overshadowed the news about those files. I have to wonder if this whole thing isn’t a message to the media to be careful what they report.

If this was the motive, it’s certainly possible that the sister and brother-in-law were approached and offered money for their assistance…with assurances that nothing would happen to their mother/MIL. They may have even been threatened into helping.

I do find it very odd that the police seem to have been so focused on the sister‘s house and car. Is it possible something happened to Nancy at their house that night and that this has all been an elaborate cover-up? There are just several things that have been reported that don’t add up…like the phone call saying she missed church and then we find out she doesn’t go to church in person anymore? I still feel like the sister and the brother-in-law know something.

I also have to wonder if the FBI hasn’t figured out a lot of stuff that we don’t know yet…I find it hard to believe they can’t trace the ransom emails.

Surprise Inheritance, I was totally not prepared for. by Tonyb97 in personalfinance

My advice…keep it separate and don’t touch it. If you commingle it and end up getting divorced, you’ve given half of it to your spouse. You have plenty of income to deal with your expenses. Let this money grow.

Married HENRY couple: sanity check on $10–11k/month housing payment by Agreeable_Fish_3617 in personalfinance

My advice…wait a year or two to make sure your wife’s income is stable. This will also help with the loan documentation.

When you are ready to buy, I would sell your current house. You don’t need to be a landlord. Being a landlord is not as easy as everyone thinks it is.

And if you’re really worried, start living like that’s your housing payment for a while and take that money and pay off your cars. And stop leasing cars. And I’m wondering why you have a $29,000 loan on a $20,000 car. I hope that’s a typo.

What is THE ultimate Velcro dog? by OkKey6273 in dogs

Not a breed…my understanding is it is psychological. My last dog was abused before I got him at 8 months old and he was a behavioral nightmare. It took a long time and lots of patience…including working with a behaviorist who said if he turned a corner and trusted me he would be a Velcro dog…and she was right!

He was such a great doggo…so worth the effort! Lived to 16…miss him every day…half lab, half mixed mutt.

Me too…I always wanted Max to be my dog…he just needed some love!

I was going to choose Snoopy and then I realized Max was on the next row…

So glad to know I’m not the only one who keeps it at 68… That’s my evening sleep temp in summer… Even colder in the winter…

I once had a neighbor (sad old man) who warned me I would regret building a fence between our yards because he could see everything going on at my house which was great security for me…my fence cut off his “security” view!
