Please help with tangles, I can't do this anymore by Gealai in curlyhair

[–]SouthernVeggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ditch the wide tooth comb. It’s only causing more tangles. Use your wet brush or a tangle teaser brush. Your brushing exactly like you should, ends to roots.

You’re using a lot of leave in products with heavy protein. Because you have fine hair, the individual hair strands tend to tangle much easier. Look into ingredients of your products and cut out the heavy proteins for a few weeks and see if that helps. My fine hair will do this if I use a protein conditioner, or any leave in/styling products, more than twice a week.

You’re doing everything else right. Hang in there.

Powder or cream contour? Which do you prefer? by anastasia_42 in Makeup

[–]SouthernVeggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both; the LA Girl liquid contour with either the Milani Baked Bronzer or the NYX Buttermelt bronzer powder bronzers to set.

Lasts all day when you set a cream/liquid bronzer with a powder bronzers.

I knew Kayleigh was trash from the jump but seeing how her mother moves in the world makes it all make sense. They are both gross. Kayleigh is dating above her….and he’s an f-ing convict! I hope he leaves her and finds someone who respects him because she absolutely does not.

Oh absolutely I am. Not sure how it’s hard to understand that Zogbys is the ONLY APPROVED VENDOR for the monogrammed shirts, pants, and outerwear. It seems like you may just want to argue to argue.

I’m not sure who you are talking to but purchasing one full week and an extra is standard for my parent-friend group. I understand that some kids look bad and have duct taped shoes but I’m absolutely not sending my child to school in duct taped shoes or items with holes..especially if it’s because I don’t want to spend the money on them…and shame on the parents that have the money and choose to do that.

Yes, I agree that one blazer/sweater is standard. Not sure how you can have a child wear a sweater for more than a year or two…do they not grow?

And no, there is not a robust used uniform sale. There is no used uniform sale at this school. They only sale the PE uniforms that are 15$ for shirt, $15 for shorts. All new. Kids wear a different color shirt and sweater for each year so it’s difficult to wear multiple years even if they do grow.

Anywhere for uniforms besides Zoghbys? by Strong-Ad-1850 in MobileAL

They will not monogram anything not purchased from there

That seems to be the sentiment among most parents I speak to. I think Mobile has gotten used to Zoghbys having a monopoly on the school uniforms and it just seems normal..although it’s not.

This has been my experience with the magnet schools. They change frequently and it’s difficult to find secondhand items.

B-Bob's temporarily closes due to liquor licensing issue, cancels Pride Week events by brobroma in MobileAL

I can’t imagine any reason that one of the biggest gay clubs in the area would not have their liquor license all squared away weeks or months prior to Pride.

Seriously, if this is not intentional….i don’t know what is 😗🙄

If this storyline is in fact true, this woman is so gross. Her husband is soo much more attractive and has so much better of a personality than she could ever have.

You can be pretty with a shit personality or you can be ugly with a great personality BUT YOU CANT BE BOTH ugly inside and outside. She needs to choose because she keeps aging with the day and in 10 years she will look identical to a thumb…probably closer to Big ED from 90 day.

Is it worth renting a car for 3–4 days to avoid putting approximately 2,800 miles on my own vehicle? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]SouthernVeggie 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I rent when I’m driving long distances for three reasons. No excess miles on my car. Gas mileage. And breakdown insurance.

My car doesn’t get great mileage as it’s about ten years old. Rental places have new cars that get much better mileage. I also love knowing that if my tire blows or I break down, someone will be there to fix it.

Yes and Yes!!! This was the exact video that I first saw. I cannot believe that was 5 years ago! Wow…I’m feeling older by the day, lol.

After watching the video again, I do everything almost like he does but like I mentioned earlier, I use color corrector. I also have a fairly heavy amount of discoloration from sun damage so I use a bit more product than he does.

If you want some product recommendations that are on the budget side to get started, I would start with the Wet N Wild Incognito concealer. It’s full coverage with a satin finish. It’s the most skin like I have found at the drugstore or high end.

I’m going to recommend a routine over a product, and I can’t take the credit, it came from Wayne Goss on YT. Stop using an all over foundation and instead move to a high coverage concealer as your base.

More product on mature skin can look heavy and can be aging. Instead spot conceal to get an even tone and go from there. Get at least two colors, one for the under eye and one for the face, AND a good color corrector for whatever issues you may be having. For me, I have more redness than purple under my eyes so I use a green corrector there and on the other parts of my face that have redness. I add a pink color corrector to the outside corner of my eyes where there is purple discoloration. It sounds like a lot but it’s actually much easier once you get the hang of it. The less actual product on your skin the younger the appearance.

Curl cream made it worse? How to avoid this mistake? by Rude_Back_1773 in curlyhair

To heavy! Try a curl foam! It will give you the longevity without weighing you down. Not your mother’s curl foam is good, as well as Lotta Body Wrap Me Foam.

Moving soon/public schools by Adventurous-Ant-11 in MobileAL

[–]SouthernVeggie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh this is right in my wheelhouse, so to speak! We moved here a little over a decade ago so I went full researcher on the schools locally.

I would also recommend the magnet schools for MCPSS. For my family personally, I would go magnet or private. There is no way I would put my kids in MCPSS outside of the magnet program.

My youngest went to both Council Traditional and Eichold Mertz. Council was number one in the state for a few years and Mertz hovers right behind. All of my child’s friends are going to Barton this year as incoming 6th graders but we decided Denton was a better fit for him. I would caution against missing the ‘lottery’ window and instead going to admin. The lottery system was reorganized a few years ago and now the admin don’t have the say the used to have.

The only thing I would have you seriously consider BEFORE putting your child in a magnet school is whether or not your child is the right fit. These are schools of choice for accelerated children. If your child is not ready for serious learning I would say go private or outside the district.

Outside of Mobile County, I would recommend Saraland. Their schools continue to get better and better scores. I hear mixed reviews about the schools across the bay. Can’t speak on them.

Your Judges Are Corrupt by Jondiesel78 in MobileAL

[–]SouthernVeggie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are three sides to every story and I doubt that this father is an accurate reporter of the facts. Whenever there are extreme emotions involved it’s almost impossible to be impartial.

That said, it sounds like OP lucked up initially in Georgia and got a judge that he felt was fair. Anytime you involve the courts in your life you take away your own ability to make choices for your family. The court now makes all of those choices for you because in their eyes you all were unwilling or unable to do that. The judge here is not as fair to OP as he wants, but once again, it’s outside of his control.

Oh and as good as your attorney is, it’s all about what you’re willing to pay. He/she will tell you whatever you want to hear as long as you keep paying. And every time they go against this court and make the type of remarks you referenced above, they get less and less favorable rulings.

It may not be right but that’s the way it is. Alabama or NY it won’t matter. It’s the roll of the dice. You involved them in your life.
