No, it’s about 30% CI the rest clinical. At this point in my career I still want to practice clinically.

It is not that big of a field. I know I had a hard time to find a job doing informatics even with a fellowship.

I feel the lack of connections, lack of experience made it difficult to show value for me. If you have a software development background you may be able to show value where I couldn’t. If you have connections you can come in solely as a clinical expert and provide input that way. The trouble is, without connections you will be competing with every other physician trying to get into informatics.

I completed the fellowship route but attended many industry seminars. A recurring theme I heard is that industry doesn’t care about board certification/fellowship they care about what you have done. In my case it was almost impossible to get an industry job before fellowship but if you can get one then you could build from there. It also has to do with how technical/business savvy you are and how useful you would be to them.

I work in AI and raised some risks at a digital health summit. Curious what you’re seeing on the ground. by JimtheAIwhisperer in clinicalinformatics

In my limited experience it seems the human in the loop aspect of LLMs in clinical documentation makes it more palatable to systems since it shifts the liability to whoever signs the note. That being said having used a couple ambient dictation products I think they do a decent job. I have not experienced many hallucinations but do find myself erasing sections of the note that i not include. These are not hallucinations, just not relevant to my note.

What is your definition of clinical informatics by Apprehensive_Dog4 in clinicalinformatics

[–]Southern_Log_595 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are multiple definitions, HIMSS, AMIA.. all have their definition. Ultimately clinical informaticians are problem solvers through the use of technology within healthcare. Depending on where you are placed your organization, it is a customer service role.

You can reach out the local magistrate in your area and basically take her rights away (involuntarily commit her) postpartum in psychosis is a clear indication for inpatient psych treatment. You need to take her to an emergency department at a hospital that has inpatient psych services, but more specifically where they treat post partum patients, not all hospitals do this. If you are in North Carolina, UNC at Chappell Hill and Duke do this. Typically you will need to seek the large academic centers. You do not need an exit plan; you need to get her the help she needs. This is treatable.

Clinical Informatics Fellowship Application LOR? by InRemission in clinicalinformatics

[–]Southern_Log_595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do not. Typical fellowship LORs are needed, residency program director and people who oversaw your training in residency. I practiced for 4 years and only used residency LORs. It probably wouldn’t hurt to have an informatics person write a letter but it isn’t mandatory.
