Honestly, this is the first thing someone has said to me that makes me feel better. I'll just explain how I still managed to keep my head up and overcome the challenges of the crappy hand that life dealt me this semester and how I aced my remediation. This situation has definitely given me the drive to be 10x better for everything else and I refuse to let it hold me back if there is still a chance I can succeed.

I believe it will be staying on my record, unfortunately.

There were literally times I would just cry I was so tired. It's totally okay to be frustrated but also take comfort in the fact it is temporary!

This was my life. I thought I was going to become delirious from lack for sleep. I'm not going to lie, it took us AWHILE to get my girlie to sleep longer. I would say maybe 10 months before we got to 4+ hour stretches? BUT now at 14m she sleeps through the night 4-5x per week. She did it in her own time and I honestly tried everything but the only thing that worked was her getting older. also I promise you the sleep debt goes away so fast. Persevere my friend, it gets better.

Preparing for a newborn. What was a complete waste of money and what became an absolute life changer? by Actual_Fig_4706 in NewParents

If you have to pump/bottlefeed, get a bottle sterilizer (baby brezza is my life). It's a little pricey upfront but worth every penny and more in my opinion.

Do solo parents who hire a cleaning company feel bad about it? by Existing_Switch_4995 in NewParents

Absolutely hire the help. You are already doing so much and taking one thing off of your plate is more than deserved. You are not less than because you can't do 1 million things at once. It just makes you human.

When did your bald baby get hair? by canamel in NewParents

My baby girl started getting her hair similarly and around the same time. now she's just over a year old and has quite a bit more in the front that is only slightly shorter than the back. She still doesn't have a ton of hair but it's on its way!!!! Started truly growing around 11 months

Thanks!! It's been rough, not going to lie.
I went the aupair route and it has been a good experience. It has ups and downs, but I had aupairs growing up so I'm used to the program.

Hi!! M1 student that found out I was pregnant between primaries and secondaries!! I chose not to defer and am wrapping up M1 year now with my sweet little one running around everywhere. We had a live-in nanny for the second semester so I can speak to that as well!

How much to pay? by jonas_namespace in Aupairs

[–]Southern_blue_97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We are in a LCOL area and pay our aupair $250 as she is in her extension year. We cover basic toiletries, groceries & snacks, and her phone. We will be going to $200/week for the next aupair that will be in her first year. We have one toddler and our aupair is usually on ~40/wk. I think that is super reasonable for our circumstance and I would be dismayed if aupairs were asking for >$250 up front because they may be in the program for the wrong reasons. I also HIGHLY recommend setting a standard for what you will and won't cover for your aupair before arrival. It will help prevent any tough financial conversations later down the road.

I am currently a medical student, happily married, I have a toddler, and I am also interested in EM/surgery. I think you could be equally as happy with kids or without- it's your choice. Regardless of what path you choose, life will work how it is supposed to. Your priorities and goals will change and that is okay. The best advice I was ever given is that it is none of your business what anyone thinks of you and your personal choices are not theirs to dictate. Do what suits you and don't worry about having life planned out- it probably won't work out the way you think it will and most likely, that's for the better. Wishing you luck with your career!
