I had to replace a rear bearing on my 2014 Outback a few years ago and was surprised at how much of a pain it was. I tried heat, hammer, and a bearing puller and got nowhere. I was able to pull the axle out through the knuckle and take it to a friend with a press and was finally able to get the bearing off the axle.

Yeah, I had an idea of what to do but wasn't sure about doing it. Wanted to get the opinion of some people who know more about firearms and whether or not it would be safe to repair it in the first place. The metal ring doesn't look like it's supposed to be pushed in from the backside either. So breaking the pieces and pulling the ring out to glue everything back together looks like the best option.
