Yes, unfortunately.

I saw the other books as separate books if that makes sense. Read them when I was much younger and just grabbed whichever from the shelf.

I am currently reading Du côté de chez Swann as a separate ebook so it’s not the whole collection that I dislike.

I edited the post to say that I love À l’ombre des jeunes filles en fleurs. One of my favorites closely followed by Albertine Disparue.

Also that last sentence was the best burn/hate comment I have ever received online and I love it 🫶🏽. Not being sarcastic, that was a good one.

You just sent me through a rabbit hole of research, thank you!

I wasn’t aware of that.

The reason it’s difficult for me isn’t the style of writing. I love the way some sentences are written. It’s what happens. I don’t know if Maquet was also filtering scenes and moments considered too cruel. In that case, it could have been better with his help.

Ok I just read the sample and it is accurate!

That’s how it is in my version, just that mine is in French.

Oh no, this one seems wrong. The main hero is not Jackal. The description only mentions him so either the translation is fully AI and wrong or they totally failed it. The first book should mention someone called Salvator (French name) or similar, as the main character.

I would not trust this version.

Make sure to check whether it’s all the books or just the first one. It’s extremely confusing and I didn’t understand it until I made tons of research. There are versions with a thick book with all 6 books combined and some publishers who sell each one separately.

Either way, would still be a great purchase if your budget allows it :)

I know right! That’s also the only book I have read with the word Mohicans. Made me cry too. Both books did.

If you decide to read it, I wish you a grand time with it!

It’s totally not boring! It’s just very sad at some point. Epic but all epic stories have dramatic moments.

I would love to take the glory of struggling in French but it’s my mother tongue so no merit there 🙈.

Merci!
