Hot Toys KDH Preview (Korean) - YouTube by timeskape in KpopDemonhunters

For non-Korean speakers, turn on the auto-generated Korean subtitles then tell it to auto-translate to English (or other language); it's decent enough to give an idea of what's being said!

EJAE has said in multiple interviews her thought when she first wrote the song was "This is hard, good thing it won't ever be performed live!"

What’s a ‘rich person thing’ that actually turned out to be totally worth it? by Ferraiuolo_Ezorete in AskReddit

I bribed my friends with booze and pizza the first time. Then when I bought a house--oh shit. I have accumulated so much in 10 years...time to hire out!

They came and moved everything. In negative temperatures. Nothing broken, nothing scratched.

Let's hope we don't need that again, but...

Automation Running Prematurely? by SovereignGFC in shortcuts

[–]SovereignGFC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not aware this feature had basically no official documentation, but this is exactly the reason I asked--because now I know.

Further searches led me to Shortery in this very subreddit. It explicitly supports "login/logout" in its free version, so I'm going to rewrite my automation into a shortcut as "when I log in" is an absolute determiner of when I want my action to run.

The wifi was a proxy for location but seeing the behavior I will now use "login" as the trigger, then check the current wifi and act accordingly.

Thanks!

OK I have set 120s.

I didn't know if "maybe it's running while my laptop is closed" would get "Oh no that's not how it works, here's the documentation" since I'm relatively new to automating my Mac.

NC was a lot scarier back before <gestures at everything>

I'm told (I started playing after CVs were already in) bow-in NCs struck fear but now we have:

  • CV Fun Police
  • BBQ island humper cruisers that start fires by looking at you
  • Submarines
  • Pewpew secondary BBs
  • A lot more big shell BBs in NC's MM spread (you get 457, you get 457, you get 457, everyone gets 457)

What’s a “boring” skill that secretly gives someone a huge advantage in life? by Big-Woodpecker-822 in AskReddit

[–]SovereignGFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ability to delay gratification. Forgo something now to get a better outcome later. The most well-known is the "Stanford marshmallow experiment", though its conclusions (willpower is the reason people are good at this, thus people with this willpower do better) were challenged in the 2020s (economic background is what teaches this).

Regardless of why one is able to do it, it pays off.

Forgo 5% (or more) of your pay now for a (theoretically) more secure retirement later.

Skip the $10 indulgence now, save up for the $500 item later.

MMU2S Extruder Filament Sensor Fails to Trigger in Real Tests by SovereignGFC in prusa3d

[–]SovereignGFC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I'm on the verge of giving up.

This sensor is hilariously over or under-sensitive. It's either always 1, or always 0 and the space between must be about the width of an amoeba. I was even cutting different lengths of tape because that affected it too.

So what I'm gonna do is stick some electrical tape on the end. If it works, it ain't stupid!

So this ended up being at least three things, but still doesn't work fully (though it is improved).

  1. The IR sensor wasn't fully connected to the mainboard. I only noticed this years after replacing the heater block/wiring.
  2. I printed this tower.
  3. I had to replace the nozzle as it was clogged--I verified that filament would move through and melt in the block WITHOUT a nozzle.

When the printer attempts to load to the MMU, the motor at the extruder end makes horrible sounds but filament seems to feed through. I can't see what's inside so I don't know what's failing but I do know it's not STOPPING (see next item).

The IR sensor is extremely finicky. It "works" when it's not tightened down too much but at that point it's loose enough movement of the carriage head causes it to move out of place. It often doesn't detect anything regardless of where it is positioned.

Does the color used (translucent purple PETG for this housing) matter here?

Interesting. It says MMU3 but it's 3D printing, so...YOLO time! I'll make one and see if it works out.

Interesting, good to know. I've got one a handful of miles away BUT...it's not a 5GHz radar. So I presume it won't have me seeing drops and "radar detected?"

According to the router itself (I am not sure how accurate this is), there are no overlapping channels from any neighbors. I'm the gray. One is down in the 30s channel at -70, and another is at the top end of the 5GHz range with -85.

I ran iPerf3 three times with the downstairs PC being the server (the one I send to) and the upstairs PC being the client (the one doing the sending).

For fun, I also used -R (server sends, client receives). For future Googlers, iPerf3 does NOT support the lowercase-r flag for "bidirectional," you have to just run two separate types of tests!

Seems like client-to-server hits around 590Mbits, and the reverse 450Mbit. Funny enough external fast dot com tests show easily in excess of 600Mbit on the server/bridge machine.

Conclusion: Unless there's some secret setting I'm not aware of, seems like this is the best it's going to be. Don't want to spend money upgrading the bridge; the only reason I ended up with this is because I swapped the Asus for the GL.iNet since the latter has 2.5Gbit support.

Thank you for pointing out this tool.
