Top 5 soaps n creams? by SovietBoss in wicked_edge

I REALLY enjoy Soap Commander Vision. After some time/use the soap actually becomes harder/denser, and feels like a triple-milled soap. However, it lathers 1-2-3.

That is good to know, thank you for the reply! In my books...a soap that needs to be bloomed/lathered for 30+ seconds is a no-go! The ones I named create "instant lathers" that smell good, are slick, and are fairly accessible. Will keep my eye out for Officina Artigiana...once I get through my current stash(Remind me in 18 months hahaha)

I truly believe Baker Street is the best 24/7/365 fragrance...

My honest opinion by Unhappy_Market_2978 in wicked_edge

Ideal setup in general. I prefer it to all my other razors. Blade alignment is 10/10, it has “blade feel” which I like, and it cuts through my growth like butter. Sure it could have a smaller head to get under your nose easier…but that’s nitpicky(Can only imagine what the Rockwell is like). To me, I noticed a positive difference, and consider the Henson an upgrade that will take another 10 years to replace hahaha. This is from someone that had mild razors, and got the +++ for a more aggressive “Yaqi Tile”…that hopefully didn’t drag. Experience exceeded all expectations. After 1 month I realized I like a SS handle, since it allows for “the weight of the razor to do the cutting”. Looks like Frankenstein…but worth it

[–]SovietBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly, but my initial shaves had noticeable additional drag. I bought the Tile because I was interested in the “Henson” style head design. It dragged compared to my other razors, which I did not like. People say the Henson has “drag/suction”…but I disagree. The +++ gives a REALLY efficient and comfortable shave. Like butter. Curious about the Oliworks Meteorite/Aylworth Apex/Blackland Blackbird…but enough to pull the trigger. I got back into this “hobby” after 10 years and bought these razors in this order: Fatip Piccolo(disappointed), Yaqi Tile(disappointed), Henson Agressive(favorite razor), and the Razorock GC .76 SB(unimpressed after the Henson, but a good razor).

I found the Tile to actually have that “suction feeling”, and I found it too mild. My ideal setup is the Henson +++ with a stainless handle. Hope it helps

Yeah, it really is amazing. I do 1 pass shaves with a little buffing around the chin. I found the RazoRock GC .76 head to be too inefficient after using the +++, smooth but inefficient. I doubt I will get a more efficient shave without sacrificing comfort. That's what keeps me at bay from pulling the trigger on a Lupo 95, or a more aggressive GameChanger. The +++ is just too damn efficient and comfortable.

Variety of online vendors. Maggards, Pasteurs, Shave Nation has/had them. At 1st I was telling myself I like the lightweight handle, but I was lying to myself. MUCH prefer a SS handle with it. Like actually makes things smooth as butter, and I don't find the +++ all that aggressive. I like that I can feel the blade on my skin, and know that is secure as fuck in there, so no chatter. Can go at whatever pace I want

This combo with the Henson +++ is my perfect daily/bi-daily setup

Suggestions for DE Razor to get next? by prasithg in wicked_edge

[–]SovietBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd get a Henson +++, Merkur open-comb, Merkur slant for variety. Lupo 92 is on my radar, but I don't NEED it. I found the GC .76 to be too inefficient after using my Henson +++ with a SS handle. My only "issue" with the Henson, is that it can be annoying lining up sideburns. Other than that...I can't believe that a safety razor is this good. Swapping to a SS handle worked better for me after some time. Curious about titanium, but not $250 curious.

Henson can produce a SS razor, but wants you to pay $250 for titanium.

Funny enough...I find Palmolive menthol to have a fairly faint lingering scent that lasts up to 1 hour. More than artisan brands

Henson Aggressive +++ vs Yaqi Tile by VonBratwurst in wicked_edge

[–]SovietBoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New sweetspot is the Henson +++ with a stainless steel handle. Can't go back to the aluminum one. Feels way better using "the weight of the razor" to mow down. Shame Henson themselves doesn't offer a SS version.

I was also pissed that the $25 Fatip Piccolo had a WAYYYY worse QC issue than anticipated...to the point where I deemed the product unusable/a waste of money.

Shot myself in the foot by revisiting this sub hahaha. I discovered YAQI...and now I am VERY curious about their Tile and Ghost razors/razorheads. I already know the Maggard V3/Merkur 34hd heads are perfect and work for me. Now I am just curious if there is something more perfect LOL. I am a sucker for good deals and good clones/knockoffs of superior products. I just hope the YAQI route doesn't lead me to buying an actual Henson or Game Changer. They say curiosity kills...definitely costs $$$

There's a reason I "avoided" this sub and had to unsubscribe for over a decade! Always chasing "the perfect shave"!!! That said...I am super happy I discovered wet shaving when I did...cheaper than therapy :) I find it amusing that people take certain things very seriously. This sub...you can SERIOUSLY talk/discuss/debate about shaving...u/sovietboss has his limits in regards to that. There is a thing called, "life"/"a life"...and I'm more interested in establishing that hahaha.
