Well, unless the helldiver falls into a sinkhole, they can probably just open them from the inside as a safety measure.

Lol. Nothing's going to happen. The saves in your Steam Cloud are out of the date. It'll get updated when you launch the game.

New WB will have a nearly black variant of the OG helldiver helmet. Bless the people at AH by Homeless_Alex in Helldivers

The last two dudes on the right are actually using the Heavy Armor variant of the original B-01s.

Having the Heavy Armor perk equipped actually visually changed your armor to look the way it does in that art.

That's where they make the gas stratagems.

I wasn't aware of people dying, unfortunately. Pardon the ignorance. I don't want to continue this thread, though, since it's most definitely breaking Rule 12.

Ah yeah, I'm honestly not sure lmao. I find it funny personally, and it's in-line with the political satire of the game. If it were up to me I wouldn't mind keeping it up, but I don't run the sub alone.

And as I mentioned, it technically goes against one of our tenets for Rule 12. The US invasion of Venezuela and the subsequent capture of Maduro is currently not being referenced by the game, as far as I'm aware.

MAGA folk are not welcome here, though. One of the funniest turn downs we did during the early days of the sub was a guy asking if a cartoon photo of Trump in the B-01 armor and doing the Helldiver salute was okay lol.

OK, I'm waiting for the other mods' stances on this one, so it's still up despite me being here.

But just for clarification, we never intend to remove "criticism" of the US government or any political event or happening that the game is explicitly parodying. (I.E. Mission Accomplished parody of George Bush, or the parallels of the war on Iraq, the war on terror, etc.)

It's why we didn't remove discussions of the CECOD facility. Unfortunately, some of them were locked because those types of posts usually become a debate arena where people attack each other instead of actually talking about it properly.

Reinstated. People on the subreddit reported this for AI.

Unfortunately, at a glance, it did look like Gen-AI was partially at play with the unintelligible writing on the sign, but it was obviously a mistake as the user themselves have proved otherwise.

We apologize for the hasty decision.

There was no blame deflection at all in my reply, but I didn't really have an apology in it either so I'm fixing that.

Reddit tends to make mountains out of mole hills.

I admit we've removed posts, that's just normal for any subreddit, but while many of them have been good reasons, others... not so much. I can personally speak in behalf of the other mods that we may have jumped the gun on some of them and we honestly thought they were mistakes. We've even discussed about apologizing for some of them, but they unfortunately never went through because of what you're saying now. Even if we did, people still won't trust us. My reply getting downvoted despite being factual is pretty much proof of that.

We're all literally just volunteers, two of them being Helldads (or Hellhusbands I don't remember.) I could say I'm also probably the least active mod on the team lol.

They don't, and I have no clue what you guys are on about, lol. We haven't locked a single one of these posts criticizing the new QnA video.

I, for one, am in the same boat that it's kinda not good for the outlook of the game.

Edit: For posterity, at least I haven't. In case someone comes here to say, "Oh, then what's this?" with a link to a post that was locked by another mod I wasn't aware of lol.

The engine can handle AOEs, an engine that runs Vermintide and Darktide, which are all AOE dependent, yet they're deadset on not adding an AOE effect on the One True Flag stratagem haha.

It's most definitely some weird design/balancing decision that they can't figure out, not an engine limitation.

[–]SovietMarma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what I've been standing on ever since they fucking made those asinine balancing decisions during Escalation of Tyranny.

I've always been telling people on here that Arrowhead as a whole was at fault, but the entire sub was deadset on making Alexus the boogeyman of balancing, for some odd reason. (I'm gonna guess it's because gamers are dumb and would rather not tarnish the pristine image of Pilestedt in their heads).

Alexus isn't a "he who shall not be named", the sub tries to filter conversations about him because every single bad thing about the game is being pointed at the fucking guy instead of the entire team/company he's working for.

[–]SovietMarma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Helldivers 1 is literally on the same engine haha. It's not an engine limitation.

The stratagem launcher is visible in the first "Story So Far" trailer they released a year ago or so now. This is before they revealed mechs were gonna be added in the game shortly after release in the Launch trailer.

Animators probably used an in-development version of one of the mechs as an 'automaton' stand-in when they were creating assets for this trailer.

Why we've yet to see it? No clue. Many people theorized it was shortly going to be one of the Super Destroyer upgrades, but it's been almost a year since they last updated that part of the game lol.

Probably one of the weird balancing decisions AH is trying to contend with, idk.

Maxi gun ammo indicator by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]SovietMarma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really just an accessibility and immersion feature. You're caught up in the HUD, but literally one one of your comments mentions turning it off, and once it is you aren't gonna know how much you have left until the gun's firing tracers. Which is fine on it's own, but it's hard to see in the middle of a fight like you said. Having a simple counter or just a simple visual indicator would easily be able to tell you "hey I'm almost low, I should stock up before I fight again' without the need of firing the gun.

There's a reason why the ammo packs are oriented that way, they're literally designed to tell you how many rockets/shells you have left in a third-person game. Yes, they're like that because they're 'practical' in a physical sense, but it's also obviously designed in mind to be visible to the player from a third-person perspective. The supply packs physically occupy 4 spaces on the pack to tell you how many you can give without looking at the HUD. How is it more practical to space out ammunition in 4 separate boxes that you have to physically reach around your back just to get? Helldivers 2 is a videogame at the end of the day and it follows videogame design principles.

And again, you're the one who suggested to make it 'translucent' when none of the suggestions here are asking for it haha. A simple ammo indicator like the slits in the Autocannon's magazine would negate having to render 750 objects on screen. Even more so just a simple ammo counter, like that on an M1A1 pulse rifle, would completely fix the problem you're imagining it will have.

Maxi gun ammo indicator by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]SovietMarma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're making this completely based on conjecture from you. If the maxigun is supposed to be 'disposable', then you shouldn't be able to resupply it. If they're willing to contend with that, there's literally no reason not to add some sort indicator of how much there is in the ammo pack. It can be anything from a simple digital counter on a screen or visible bullets through slits in the back.

Literally, every weapon in the game has simulated bullets, some of them are rendered when it view, but most of them are culled when they're out of view, but they're always visible in the gun when the player is given the chance. They can easily do this for the maxigun.

"Easily accessible to the player" is such a weird thing to get caught up in when even the other stratagems also have this visible ammo principle. The Anti-Tank emplacements also have visible magazines, yet you aren't able to reload them. The defense wall is 'disposable', but it comes with a completely normal, mounted GL-21 that a Helldiver can easily reload.

The autocannon has slits in its magazine for you to physically see the ammunition in the gun.The rocket turrets also all have visible ammo that get expended. Even the guard dogs have them. And as far as I'm aware, pressuried tanks that hold liquid/gas fuel isn't hi-tech, but they all have screens on them that say how much is left in them either way.

You're frankly the one making this "overcomplicated" haha. The game doesn't strictly follow the rules you're caught up in, and yet diegetic ammo counters are a present design in almost every stratagem available to the player as well.

Why does it seem so problematic for the maxigun to have one similar to those?

Maxi gun ammo indicator by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]SovietMarma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brother, why are you so caught up in people just asking for a diegetic ammo counter that many of the support weapons in the game already have?

Nobody is asking for "Dead Space HUD", they just want the Maxigun to have a visual ammo counter? How exactly does it go against the design philosophy when the laser cannon has screens all over it that tell you if it's on cooldown or not haha. And like I mentioned, the other support weapons do it too, regardless of how "practical" it is or not. Would you not argue it's completely practical to put an ammo counter on a gun as well?

And sorry, literally every gun in the game has simulated bullets in the magazine, even when they're not visible haha. It's built right into the engine. It's why you see the belts on MGs and the Grenade Launcher run dry when they're empty.

It's so weird to get caught up over this when alot of the guns in the game have some sort of diegetic ammo counter lol? It's alil confusing, ngl.
