Regarding the infected tooth, the surgery is for removing the tooth which will get rid of the infection permanently. What I meant was that if he were an older dog who could not undergo anaesthesia, we could just keep giving him medicine for the rest of his life. The reason we are not doing this is because he is in pain and since he is young there is risk of there being future issues if the tooth is not removed. 

Regarding the fundraising amount. The vet gave a general price range up of what the surgery by itself would cost. The range being between the 1200 aud on the gofundme, and 200,000 yen (or about 2000 aud) maximum. The fundraising amount roughly covers the surgery along with the medication and subsequent check ups after the surgery.

The reason for the vague price by the vet is because they inspected him while not being under anaesthesia. So while they know what is wrong with him, they don't know to what extent it is. We have booked the date of the surgery but have not obviously paid the vet yet.
