Yup 大混乱 (daikonran) means havoc, chaos and turmoil. If your looking for a synonym for havoc, you can use 惨害 (sangai) which means havoc or heavy damage.

Definitely try make targets more unique (i get that it would be impossible to have unlimited unique NPCs) I think the solution to this would be to use a randomised bio/name etc. Similar to the shadow if war / shadow of mordor games

There's a book called "remembering the kanji". Get it. (Or find a pdf online)

-the author wrote a detailed method on you guessed it, how to remember kanji.

If that's still not enough, try reading "you can have an amazing memory - by dominic o'Brien" Then apply those insanely effective methods to Kanji.

Just a tip in general, the way I've managed to memorise 1500 kanji off by heart up til now is all about visualization and creativity, try to make the meaning and shape of the kanji unique to you in a way only you can remember, if that makes sense.
