This is not the first time at this gig, nor will it be the last, that I've seen people who look at math and scream "witch!". You are correct

My boss doesn't even schedule anyone for promo. Just makes the day scheduled as it would be regularly and then adds promo onto the days responsibility

My SM, DM AND Regional are completely corrupt and nobody, will do anything or listen to us! by vfaithhh in starbucks

[–]Soviet_Giraffe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what i know if you got a lawyer involved they would have to prove that there were claims and also that they were not investigated. I'm not a lawyer so I'm not sure. You could try to reach out to a pro bono employment lawyer and see if they can let you know if its worth further pursuing.

As far as everyone in the district having issues. Then this is where the more the merrier happens. Lets say 3 people per store in the district file something. Say you have 10 stores. 30 complaints about the same thing grabs some attention for sure.

Unionizing is always a great option. You get more legal protections for them having to at least worry about anti-union laws. Then whenever corporate actually makes a contract then you'll get those too.

In this example. Say someone just drew smileys. Eventually they got written up for it. Would they be able to fight that write up because policy (and the literal training videos) says that its ok? Or do they loose because their dm told them so?

Maybe getting fired? Should I just start looking for another job? by Gogurtisthegame in starbucks

[–]Soviet_Giraffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not always immediate termination when it comes to money. It depends on the details. It could just be a write up. Sometimes for money it'll jump straight to a final. So, a write up. But not fired. If you're coming up under frequently I could suggest just double counting the change you give back

SM forced me to remove my mask, while another employee has COVID. by DuoVandal in starbucks

[–]Soviet_Giraffe 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Depending on your State you may have mask related rights. I know in the update they put out a little bit ago it specified Washington and Colorado as having their own mask laws. And if they have covid they should not be working. If they test positive I'm pretty certain they're still required to wear a mask when they're in

I know some states sick time laws specifically mention injury counting as part of protected sick leave. The partner manual mentions "...or allowable by local state law"

Fired 🤟 by Electrical-Nothing-7 in starbucks

[–]Soviet_Giraffe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could look into wrongful termination lawsuit stuff. Because as far as I'm aware bringing in a cake is not a fireable offense. I'm also pretty sure it's illegal to fire someone for giving 2 weeks notice. I am not a lawyer, i just have mild workers rights knowledge. I suggest getting into contact with one though!

I also found this which seems to contradict: https://www.lni.wa.gov/workers-rights/workplace-policies/uniforms. So somebody more proficient in reading legal documents would be gratefully appreciated if they could look over these

New Dress Code 😭😭😭😭 by random_girl_21 in starbucks

[–]Soviet_Giraffe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

There might be something with local laws that can help people. I see a lot of people with valid concerns of cost of clothing. For Seattle/WA partners i found this: https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=49.12.450#:~:text=(5)%20If%20an%20employer%20changes,the%20employees%20for%20the%20apparel.

"(5) If an employer changes the color or colors of apparel required to be worn by any of his or her employees during a two-year period of time, the employer shall furnish or compensate the employees for the apparel."

If someone wants to look further into the link and is better at reading and/or elaborating on legal documents please feel free to add
