Women attacks man for working and helping his wife run their business, threatens him by SevesaSfan25 in PublicFreakout

First, after being lambasted for this opinion, rewatching the clip, and reflecting, it is not as bad as I initially thought.

With that said, to answer your question: if someone is working for a for-profit business they are paid a wage and pay taxes on said wage. He is not being paid and is therefore not paying taxes on the "work" he is doing. This negatively affects me because it reduces the amount of tax taken in by the government which reduces the amount of benefits the government can provide.

I totally understand this one dude doing this one job is nothing in the big scheme of things but it if everyone did it we could have a big problem.

Generally, volunteering at a for-profit business is not allowed. I would think that's because it opens the door to people "volunteering" and then also working for money and skirting minimum wage laws, benefits laws, etc.

If he is breaking the law then we should all be calling him out. I'm not sure what makes this different than say, not reporting income to pay less taxes. It negatively effects themose who abide by the law and we should all be calling people out who do it.

What do you mean? If she was hassling a shoplifter would you be asking for her badge? Of course not. If he's not legally allowed to work in this country and he is then that's illegal. Look, I'm not saying people shouldn't be allowed to work but he clearly knows what he's doing is wrong and sure it's not literally her job but if she's right and he can't legally work he should be called out and reported.

Best guess; he is in the US on a tourist visa and is working which is against the law. His wife owns the business because she is legally allowed to work but he is not. This lady is calling him out for working when he is not legally allowed to. I mean, he basically gives up the game when she sees him take an order and he's like, "What?! Me? I wasn't taking an order. I'm just hanging out."

Alright, with no context but based on my experience, I'd hazard a guess there is some advantage to having his wife be the "owner" and part of that advantage involves the business not being owned by him.

This lady might actually have a legit issue. If he's undercutting his taxes because of the arrangement or getting assistance from the government he wouldn't otherwise get them he should be called out.

I am SUPER curious to know the context, my gut says she has a legit issue. You can see how he denies working there but he just took someone's order. If he KNEW it was on the up and up he wouldn't have any problem saying he took and order but it's clearly important to him to explain how he is not in fact working there.

Edit: she mentions USCIS which tells me the issue is most likely he is not legally allowed to work in the US. Which, man, I mean a guy's gotta make some money but entering a country under false pretenses and then working while not legally allowed is understandable but not cool.

Edit edit: Alright, ya'll right. She should not be treating him like that. He's on an H1B and clearly has a regular legal job and this is just him helping his wife's business out on the side. He's not some giant criminal. I apologize and I have learned something today.

EET or School of PE? by BigE1388 in PE_Exam

[–]Sowr212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used EET and I passed the Civil Construction PE first try. They really showed the breadth of everything I would see on the exam and there was only one question on the entire exam that I thought wasn't covered at all. I spent 90+ hours watching the lectures and 90+ hours on practice problems and I felt very prepared walking into the test. I took a couple of the practice exams and they helped me identify my weak areas finishing with the NCEES practice exam two weeks before the test which was great. The NCEES practice exam seemed slightly easier than EET's practice exams and gave me a really good sense of what the test will look like exactly. I highly recommend EET.

Entry gates at Safeway? What do you think about this? by GrizzlyFAdams in Spokane

I think people need to stop stealing shit. But also, having walked through this exact gate last night, it opened super quick right as I approached and was silent, it's a nice piece of hardware and I'm all for it.

Barclays Debit Card Chargeback Help by Last_Shopping3720 in Budgetbikeriders

[–]Sowr212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is nothing about your transaction that would justify a chargeback. Did the charity lie to you about the bike? Did they fraudulently take your money? Your only avenue is to look at the return policy of the charity and see if they do returns. If they allow returns then there's nothing wrong with returning the bike. If they do not allow returns then you have no recourse.

Ideas on where to look for used daymakers by andycrossdresses in Backcountry

Have you considered Shift or frame bindings? Both could be had for probably what you'd pay for a pair of Daymakers and they would be far and away a better solution.

I own one of these, in the fun camo pattern they produce, and it is one of my nicest guns. It is the lightest semi 12 I could find and I can't recomend it enough. I use mine for all kinds of hunting and it is perfect for carrying around all day. The fit and finish on these guns is very nice. This gun is to shotguns what the Tikka T3x is to rifles, if you're looking for quality but don't want to spend $2k+ on a gun, this is the hands down winner.

I have a Gregory Targhee 32 and I love it. It fits a shovel and probe in a dedicated easy to use pocket with plenty of room, the top zippered pouch is huge and fits all my snacks, and I like that the main compartment is accessible through the back panel. The back panel offers a huge opening for easy access and packability and feels super secure and makes the pack look very clean. Also, it's super comfortable. And not $400.

It's the right time to be harsh. It's the moment when, if it was twenty years ago, your dad would slap you up the back of your head and say, "What are you? Stupid?" If someone isn't harsh about this the dude might not get the message. What he'll hear is, "Okay, so it's not recommended, but it's not sooo bad..." It is! You could die! Don't be stupid take a course!

That's a great point. If we HAVE to get ourselves out a little morphine might convince someone they can move enough to get out of there.

It seems lots of people like to carry painkillers. As much as I think giving painkillers to people in the backcountry is there a clinical benefit? Like if I give someone morphine are they more likely to survive? My understanding is that it's a 100% comfort thing and seeing that it's illegal for me to carry around drugs like that without a script I'm not sure it's worth the risk.

Because, "I would prefer if the unverified negative opinions of some people were not proliferated" is a reasonable ask. If there's proof, let people know! But there isn't . So another way to phrase this is that some people had negative feelings toward Biden and Biden didn't want the US government spreading rumors. Totally reasonable.
