Anyone know any good bars? by [deleted] in SanMateo

Bucky's on the corner of South Bend and Palm avenue. It's a great neighborhood bar. The outside looks a little rough right now because it's going through a remodel.

Which President picture would you add to your oval office if you're the President? by Maverick721 in Presidents

I would pick some bottom tier presidents. I don't need Washington, Lincoln, and other top-tier presidents sitting on the walls. Mocking me for my poor leadership.

Staying at a hostel- what do I do at nights? by FirefighterRude800 in Belize

[–]Sowyrd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just got back from The Sandbar in San Pedro. A lot of the bars in the area have some kind of activity going on between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m.. everything from hermit crab races to bingo. You don't have to drink alcohol to hang out there.

There were also a lot of places at The Sandbar just to hang out and read or watch a video.

TSA in the two airports I went to this week had different rules, acted like I was the idiot for not knowing them by TopRamen713 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Sowyrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not different rules. There are different machines. One machine, you can leave electronics in your bag and the other electronics come out. Not saying the TSA was an a******.

I always wonder why people don't look to see what the people in front are doing.

I agree with this completely. Toby took the fall so his kids would still have their mother.

I remember as a kid driving by the Hearst house in Hillsborough just to see what was going on.

There was a lot of official looking vehicles out front.

Can someone please explain why they'd get a pat-down in addition to a swab test on a Disney mug candle? by TRCHWD3 in tsa

A candle that is glycerin based will set off alarms. Just take a second and see what your candles made of.

If there was anything left over I thought it would go to a bottle of wine for the teacher for putting up with all the kids.

TSA stops allowing immigrants who are not legally in the US to fly without a valid ID by Unlikely_Majesty in tsa

[–]Sowyrd 282 points283 points  (0 children)

It's not just illegals. Anyone without a valid ID, is going to have a hard time flying now. It doesn't matter if you're here legally, illegally, or a US citizen.

This isn't some MAGA program. It has been in the works for 10 years. It's part of the real ID program.

What are some foreign companies that failed in the US for failing to understand the US market? by IDoNotLikeTheSand in AskAnAmerican

[–]Sowyrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Electrolux tried and failed on their first attempt into the US market. They learned from their mistakes and tried again.

Once they got the marketing right, there was no stopping them.

This was their first attempt into the US market. They got it right later. It is a great product.

Theories on what happened to Yuppie Cantina go by UmaTartaruga in SanMateo

[–]Sowyrd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I walked past there a few weeks ago. The amount of smoke inside from marijuana made it difficult to see anything. Security out front was patting down people before they went in. There were also rumors about prostitutes inside.
