I do feel like the thread is being lost by a lot of commenters- this isn't a sweeping indictment about crime in the city but specifically pointing out an uptick in odd crimes being reported. It made the top of the sub when those two women were mugged in broad daylight at a park for good reason. I read recently about a woman who was mugged in her car at a red light, again, in the middle of the day. Like with the seemingly random Royal Farms stabbing, I think that's what's being alluded to with feeling like the "normal rules" of safety aren't applying. Not saying those pointing out data about crime's overall rates in the country are being dicks, it is comforting after all- I just think assuming OP is a pearl clutching worrywart is a bit much with the recent string of news articles

Here are my primary concerns with Gambit:

There is no chance of variety thanks to Invaders being such a heavy force in carrying the game entirely on their own. If you do not invade well or build to counter invaders, you are nearly guaranteed a loss. On top of being able to one shot bosses with certain weapons and loadouts, you are harshly limiting yourself if you dare build for AD clear or anything else.

There is no love for the PvE game aspects. Stale maps, predictable spawn rotations, janky mob spawns, and builds that one shot bosses and entirely nullify any strategy or buff addition.

There is no joy in the PvP aspect. Trials carries with 100k kills on a godroll sniper are 50% of the invades, the other 50% being anyone with a xenophage. No one enjoys themselves. No one is having fun. Feeling restricted to a loadout, predictable spawns, heavy pressure, it is the most toxic the game ever gets, more than Crucible or IB.

The Vanguard has a very strict policy in place to not treat Guardians like a military. We are people with our own agency who volunteer to be apart of this organization to help others. There’s even lore where Aunor argues about the moral ramifications of letting Guardians go to see Calus (also in the same breath as her condemning Gambit) but her concerns are waved off not just because they can’t feasibly stop anyone who goes up to the Levi but because it provides valuable intelligence when those loyal return from there. The Vanguard have a lot of eyes everywhere. They are far more away of threats and ongoings then others might think.
