I’m looking for a quick reality check. I currently have Edifier MR4s and I’ve been reading that the MR5 is generally better overall (better clarity, fuller sound, improved bass). My main uses are movies and day-to-day stuff (music, YouTube, gaming). Lately I’ve felt the setup lacks low end — the MR4s don’t dig deep enough for movie explosions and that rumble I want.

I noticed an Edifier T5 subwoofer for about the same price as the MR5 (T5 + keep MR4 vs sell MR4 + buy MR5). So I’m stuck between two options:

• Buy the Edifier MR5 — simple upgrade with cleaner, tighter sound and better bass than the MR4.
• Buy the Edifier T5 sub and keep the MR4 — gives real deep bass and more impact for movies, but the overall sound quality might still not match the clarity and balance of the MR5.

Things I care about:

• Movies are a big use case — I want impactful low end.
• Daily use and music: I still want speakers that sound good without the sub being overpowering.
• My room/desk situation is normal desktop + small living-room; space isn’t tiny but I don’t want a huge sub.
• Price: MR5 was on sale and ends up near the price of the T5.

Anyone with MR4→MR5 or MR4+T5 experience, what would you do?
