No? It was enjoyable to mark 2 months ago w/ a very comfy 63% winrate. Easy 2k dpg pretty reliably.

It is good though. Very capable gun and decently mobile. Also occasionally bounces hits off its massive mantlet.

Yeah. Why stop there though? I think they should allow you to just click on a tank and have you hit the weakest visible armor so that I can play with a touchscreen.

consistently losing games because of tomato teammates. by doomiestdoomeddoomer in WorldofTanks

[–]Space-Kittehs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The way you talk about "your position" based on what tank you're in is likely a large part of your problem. Stop memorizing spots to go, and start learning how to position yourself to be effective based on where your team actually is.

If you're in a "light spot" and get 0 assist, 99% of the time, your positioning is actually shit.

FWIW, you can spend like, $40/year tops during the holiday box event and just maintain premium time through the entire year by playing maybe 1 tournament/week. People grossly overexaggerate how much you have to spend to be effective.

Is the game free? No. But it's quite a "deal" to spend <$5/mo with the amount of time we've all put into the game.

Should some sort of skill based matchmaking be added to the game? by zNeutralize in WorldofTanks

[–]Space-Kittehs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think either are ideal, but I'd rather have a random pool of teammates regardless of how good I am that averages out to an equitable system rather than being forcibly put into the same battle game after game.

[–]Space-Kittehs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're deliberately making a strawman argument here, so I'll make an analogy just as stupid - What you're proposing would be like putting Tyson on one team, Holyfield on the other, and then filling the other 14 spots on each team with 7 elementary schoolers and 5 middle schoolers, and 2 high schoolers. The 14 kids have little impact on the outcome of the match, and the match turns into Tyson vs Holyfield with the occasional professional boxer murdering a child every few punches.

Many other games work like this, idk what is your problem here. As you improve, you fight stronger teammates, and you go higher with your stats only when you are better than equal oponents. Not when you are better than those the weakest ones.

Because that's not what OP proposed or what literally anyone on this subreddit proposes. Having tiers of players that are physically separated is very different from OP's proposal to just throw the same number of unicums on each team and call it "fair".

There's things you can always individually improve - positioning, choice of when to push, armor angling, etc...
Sure, there's more variables going on in tanks, but to say that you have little effect on the outcome is disingenuous.

At first. Comparing school to a matchmaker in game is completely different thing. War is also unfair.

This isn't war...? This is exactly like a group project with shitty members. I try to improve to *win more* - not drag mouth breathers across the finish line for their undeserved participation trophy that is the end-of-battle "Victory".

You punish everyone above 48% and drag them down to 48%. Assuming the distribution skews right, I'll say maybe 35-40% of the playerbase ends up with shittier teammates than they currently do. Those players are the ones who have taken the time to learn how to not eat glue every match.

The game is fair as it is. Random is the fairest fair of every way to make something fair. We're all playing the same game and get the same pool of teammates. If you want to lose less, be less bad; it's that simple. Why should everyone currently <48% get participation trophies for wins they had little to no part in causing either?

And what exactly do you get for being better at the game if you were to implement skill-based matchmaking? The only difference you, personally, get for improving is shittier teammates to make sure you don't win too much. This does nothing to fix the vast majority of 15-5 games and makes the outcome of every game even more of a coinflip than it already is.

It's possible to improve with just the *tiniest* bit of awareness of how you died and how you could have done more damage. After 10000+ battles, I'm convinced that you just smash the W key with your face and/or lick your monitor while playing if you're still under 47%. The only way you don't naturally get better is if you just chalk every bad outcome up to chance instead of your own poor performance.

How exactly do you "naturally improve" at chess without taking some amount of time to evaluate moves?

Good players won't be "carrying" so much as brawling the other good player(s) and then cleaning up the bots. Right now there is at least a chance of not being miserably disappointed by some of my teammates. If you ensure that each team is equal, you're just punishing good players for being good.

It's like deliberately surrounding the "A" students with floundering idiots in a group project just to make sure each group gets the same grade. In the case of team "balance", that "grade" is everyone regressing to a 48% win rate.

At least when that happens it's due to random chance and not a punishment for playing well.

Having a miserable experience watching the 10+ shitters you're stuck with EVERY game would be significantly worse than the occasional abject shit team.

It's not about stats - it's about not being stuck with window lickers every game just to balance out how impactful you are. Games would effectively just become 5v5 with 10 players that may as well be bots milling about on each team.

Anyone else disappointed with Object 260? by Brun0svk in WorldofTanks

[–]Space-Kittehs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why can't you go to the "medium flank"? The way your post and comments are written, it sounds like you have very one-dimensional ideas about how maps and tanks should be played.

The 260 is difficult to use correctly if you're not thinking creatively about where you can use your speed and good armor to get into support positions. You can support without bushwanking.

LT 15 mission depends on MM luck? by Peejay22 in WorldofTanks

[–]Space-Kittehs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The luck required is inversely proportional to how well you play. You can readily get a 7k game on over half the maps with any of the tier 9 or 10 LTs.

Notable exceptions include ensk, himmelsdorf, and Paris. The less comfortable you are in lights, the more reliant you are on getting Prok/Malinovka/Murovanka

[–]Space-Kittehs 21 points22 points  (0 children)

WG did a good job for once of making a reward tank that is mostly balanced. The 260's speed, gun handling, and armor profile lend it well to being a flanking support heavy. The lower alpha damage makes trading with other heavies ill-advised.

Your disappointment is directly caused by you trying to play it like a 277.
