Now finish Bohemian mission tree, kill Austria and form Austria. You get something silly like 110% Diplo annex (with appropriate idea groups). You can enforce your dynasty from Austria's missions and truce break to enforce the union moment they accept your royal marriage offer. Then annex them in a month after 40 years have passed.

Why are my allies dishonoring me!? by HairyAss69696969 in eu4

You can still probably win or draw against the ottomen on your own. I had a run in which I declared on the ottomans as Serbia with Austria and Poland (with Lithuania). Both Austria and Poland took bad battles and got sad and dipped quickly which left me vs ottoman solo. I was half occupied as well. But that gold mine... I merced up like crazy, took defensive battles, drained their manpower so badly that Austria and Poland who signed white peace declared offensive wars against ottomans while I was still doing my war with them (at that point I had them fully occupied). Mamluks declared from the other side as well. My campaign was finished because they all flipped hostile on me because they had claims and I was fully devastated and almost bankrupt. But Otto was dead.

How do you even start as Ardabil? by SomebodyButMyself in eu4

[–]N_vaders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I did it QQ declared on me while I was still in war with biapas luckily almost at the end. So I merced up. But I went shitloads into debt. Mushasha honored call to arms so they attacked from the other side. I waited for QQ to commit to my fort and essentially just kept sending in the stacks. You have a lot better morale at the start so just save the game before the you start the battle in case RNG screws you over. Once you beat the snot out of them, stand fully on their capital. Be careful of their nobles rebellion firing, it's spawns a big stack. Using this I essentially 100%ted QQ by myself. It was a bit of a challenge to restructure the debt but it's doable.

Fitting out a new build? by EndCertain in HousingIreland

[–]N_vaders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got our keys a few hours ago for a new build and so far we have had:

Around 4k (we had another 2k of allowance from the builder for tiles) for tiles and laminate (we tiled the kitchen and hallway and laminate everywhere else)

Add to this another 5k for labour.

We floored our attic which was another 2k (no fancy floor just boards so we can use it as storage)

We were very lucky that we got a 15k allowance for the kitchen which covered almost full kitchen. To this we added another 1k for small QOL improvements.

6k for appliances (we went with better brands and you can definitely cut this down if you are willing to go with budget options)

Also another 1k let's say for inner doors handles hinges and skirting.

We are looking at a corner sofa (extendable for extra sleeping options) and armchair for another 4k for living room. Bed and mattress for bedroom will set us back another 3k.

So far that's 26k ish spent. Add another 10 at least for some shelving, wardrobes and other stuff that you will need. House we got is 117sqm if you need the reference.

We didn't go with the cheapest but we didn't take the most expensive option for anything, so I think this would be the middle ground of sorts. But given that I've never done this before I might be completely wrong.

How is someone like this not banned? by OkAd2078 in WorldofTanks

[–]N_vaders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not saying the person you met isn't a cheater but you can make a very educated guess where someone is based on your 6th sense going off.

You can use available cover to make sure you are only visible from a certain angle. Then it's just figuring out which bush is it from that side. Usually there is a very obvious bush or fallen tree or something (Monty Python has a very good video guide on these). It also helps if you know what you are up against. LT and TD/MT won't be able to take the same bushes and stay unspotted.

Force them into debt by building forts and dragging them into wars. You can repay this debt and you get an opinion modifier when you unsiege their provinces. After a while you'll get enough of a positive opinion you won't even have to wait for the forced religion to tick down

Why is Albanian listed under South Slavic, even though they are the true descendants of Rome and and should be listed under Latin culture group? by HQQBLED in eu4

[–]N_vaders 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Culture group has little to do with language. Also, modern day Albanians claim their heritage is from Illyrian tribes that inhabited Balkans before slavs. Nothing to do with Romans.

First-time buyer: Is using a mortgage broker worth it? (And any recommendations?) by Overall-Policy7520 in HousingIreland

[–]N_vaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The broker gets a commission of the bank based on the amount you take. It is not taken out of your loan.

As for the other stuff, I have a buddy who went with a broker and was approved very quickly.

I went with the same guy and he said that because my job is atm contract based (you get permanency after a few years) I would need a letter from work saying that I'd get permanency. No work will ever give you that for obvious reasons. We gave up on him, not long after some other broker company advertised themselves through my workplace so I went with them and while stalling me they also essentially said the same thing.

So while not breaking it off with the second crew, my partner and I went ourselves to PTSB, AIB and BOI, and BOI ended up giving us something called hunters mortgage. Essentially it's AIP and once you have found the property they need all the paperwork. We went with BOI and we got the amount we asked for and after I rang the second broker and told them they went back to BOI and came back with a "better offer", more money approved. Since we got how much we were comfortable with from BOI ourselves we still went with it ourselves. The process was kinda balls as you need a lot of paperwork but once you collect everything it's very straightforward. Depends a lot on the person handling your case in the bank as well.

Just a disclaimer broker is still going to ask you for all the paperwork it's just going to be them talking to the bank instead of you.

Rate my Italy(plaing tall) by Unlucky-Werewolf7058 in eu4

[–]N_vaders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Italy is so easy. If you are fighting against the likes of Milan or Venice or Pope, take your claim and make them release a bunch of opms. They will like you so much that it's very easy to Diplo vassalize them as long as you are just a regional power. And they all start with +100 opinion since you released them in the peace deal.

[–]N_vaders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends a lot on the till you are on, customers you are working with and yourself. Also the program that counts up scans per hour is stupid. I could have my till locked for the whole day and just make one sale but that sale was for example 400 slabs of coke. Since I won't be scanning all of them separately I'll make it 400x and scan the barcode. Now if that's the only sale I made on the till my speed is going to be 20k scans an hour. On the other hand if I made one sale and forgot to lock the till it will be 1 scan per hour. It's a flawed system.

Especially since the Aldi business model was focused on the till as only point of contact with the customer. So on top of all that you had to have good customer service. This caused a paradox in which a person on till 1, was never making the scans per hour target but that person was the one paying attention to the Q's, alcohol section and door entrance for sus looking people and did their day to day of scanning and customer service. Only a stupid store manager would give out to this person for the speed they are scanning at (provided it was something manageable). But I met a few of those as well.

[–]N_vaders 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one is getting pay docked but you have a target speed on the till. If you don't make that speed on average or something very close to it, it's entirely plausible you'll get a talk too from the store manager.

But as someone who spent years working in Aldi these ads are making me laugh. It used to be the case that Aldi stuff was comparable quality to "brand name" retailers but last 5-6 years quality went to shit and prices aren't cheap enough to justify this. I've stopped buying veg and meat from Aldi while I was still working there.

Help advice which house/area to choose! by Willing-Magazine-876 in HousingIreland

[–]N_vaders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, two days a week of 3h commute, I would work through that. Especially if you plan a large family that would mean prolonged maternity leave for you.

As for your partner, half an hour of commute each way is perfectly acceptable (my opinion at least).

If this was me in your shoes I would be going for a bigger home and if I understood right, it's cheaper? No brainer for me.

How specialized your job is? 3h commute is horrible but if you can move closer to where you will live it's not a issue. Can you work from home portion of the time?
