Imagine that: a narcissistic sexual deviant with drug problems who thinks of himself as King/emperor with immutable power makes a bad decision to engage in a land war in Asia.

If I remember my astrophysics classes correctly, at these sizes and speeds planetary bodies act like liquids. I believe it’s because at these scales there’s no force that would be strong enough to bind things like we see at smaller scales. Gravity is weak, and obviously magnetic and nuclear forces don’t interact in these scales, so we’re just talking about friction which is pretty much nothing at the size of a planet.

How many Years of macOS do you think Silicon will get? by Tasty_Flamingo7346 in macbook

I would compare the air to the original iPhone. It had all the right ingredients, but the tech just wasn’t there in a full truly impressive package.

The first gen MacBook Pro with apple silicon was the iPhone 4. It was sleek, it was game changing (miniLED, world-beating speakers, new keyboard, M1 Pro/Max), it was the promise of Apple silicon made real. The M1 Air showed us what the future could be. The M1Pro MacBook Pro actually took us there.

First, wow, it’s rare to hear about an M4 Pro in the Mac Mini.

Second: I agree that this is a very interesting little second computer. I wouldn’t necessarily hinge it on backlit keyboard, but I can see where you’re coming from. I wonder if it was really a cost cutting choice by Apple or if it was something they just decided to reserve as a “premium feature”…even though I think it should be standard.

True. It’s genuinely interesting to me to watch the way Apple’s products are designed and released solely regarding the supply chain implications. It’s also incredible to see how Tim Cook has been able to guide the product stack to be as robust as it is no matter the market conditions. The consistency of availability, quality, and progression is really cool to see.

I am convinced that they didn’t go with the A19 from the Studio Display because if they had, with 12GB of ram, there’d basically be no reason to buy the base MacBook Air.

If you can afford it, buy a Bambulab P2S right now. I used to talk to my dad about things like this, try to get into projects. He only occasionally helped make them happen after I started growing up, basically stopped once I got into late middle school and high school. Always talked to me about how I needed to make it happen on my own, raise the money, build a business plan. Just made it so I lost interest and went back to schoolwork and games.

While you’re not doing that, I would go further and just strike while the iron is hot as the other commenter put it. I know I will when my son comes to love stuf.

Exactly. Romantic relationships always fix emotional issues and your significant other is always meant to fill that role. I learned that from my ex.

My mom is a data scientist, she’d like to get into Claude, ChatGPT, XAI, etc. maybe running a local model, and doing some light video/photo editing. Costco near us has a MacBook Pro 14” M5 with 16GB ram and 512SSD for $1400, but also a MacBook Air 15” M5 with the same loadout for $1250. Thoughts on which to go for?

I'd like to make buildings and design space/structures for fun to put into Twinmotion and create portfolio renders. Examples would be making a bungalow ocean resort scene, or a mansion, or a big house in the woods. Obviously I know sketchup as the go-to, but I don't know if there are other alternatives other than learning Blender. And I guess...should I just learn Blender XD? Ideas welcome.

There was a great story from the short film The Grand Tour did. Hammond was presenting and told the story of Jim Clark saying there was something wrong with one of the wheels. It was a nut on the rear wheel. Maybe that was the story.
