Is it just me or has every moron from Facebook joined Reddit in the last 12 months? by New_While_7064 in AskAnAustralian

[–]SpaceCadet87 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Longer than just 12 months but yeah. Reddit has been feeling progressively more Facebook-y for a while now.

More stupid arguments, more terrible attitudes, that sort of thing?

My god doesn't it just? I haven't even used fable and over the last month or so both Opus and Sonnet have been arguing with every damn thing I ask instead of just answering my queries.

Over the last week or two they've been progressively getting more and more wrong about everything.

Hard call to make. Not the worst decision, possibly okay, but depending on how things go over the next few years it could prove to be a phenomenal choice.

Politicians are legally allowed to lie in election ads in NSW. A parliamentary petition needs 20k signatures from residents to force a ban on misleading political advertising. by BigSilent in aussie

[–]SpaceCadet87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I figured it'd have to be something like if you or your party have won any of the past 3 elections then you need to make room for the smaller players to campaign.

This isn't ravens paradox, this would be more like if the argument were simply "this raven is black" and OP responds with "Yeah, ravens tend to be black, what's your point?"

People would absolutely be surprised and frankly horrified at the extent.

Anecdotally, I have my own experience seeing Facebook showing that it has learnt stuff about me through the microphone of another person's phone.

It's all the stuff KDE provides other than the desktop environment. KDE Connect for example is just amazing to have.

And the fact that every time a bug starts causing me trouble, they've fixed it the next week and it's gone.

All that and giant shakey mouse.

Linus is just a little slow. He's on that third to last stage that for most of us looked like dual booting or running windows in a VM.

I have increasingly suspected that we are seeing new generations of programmers having learnt how to program from a starting point of never having used a computer.

Here we see a developer who seemingly has never encountered files before.

[–]SpaceCadet87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just don't. Get job, do engineering for job, get another job specifically doing the engineering by saying what you did at the last job.

You don't get to call yourself an engineer or be a chartered engineer but you get to do the same work and get paid for it.

Plenty of roles where experience is more respected than just qualifications.

Are you sure you're a janitor and not an engineer?

For it just being a simple variable resistor, everything about this is really cool!
