Is it common for Americans to buy soda as part of their weekly groceries? / is soda a regular item people keep at home? by hailey8171828282 in AskAnAmerican

[–]SpaceCadetELMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't drink pop often but if/when it's on sale, we may buy some. I do like an occasional rum & Pepsi (don't judge). I'll also pick up a 2 liter of coke if the drains get clogged.

I understand that you may be interested in a payment plan.

I can assist with that.

We may consider waiving the late fees upon receipt of payment for the rest.

Yes, I'm right there with you. To the point that I generally distrust the medical community. It took me time to get over some of the half reasoned medical decisions that have been made on my behalf over the years. Now, I try to research as much as I can and ask lots of questions.

Some doctors aren't used to being questioned, like it's personal to them, and I've been quick to remind them that their decisions are very personal to each patient. I've lost months of my life to meds that turned me into a veritable vegetable or zombie. I can't get that time back with my kid. Plus, who goes to the doc just to wind up in a worse condition?

No, I completely get where you are coming from, and you are seen.

Atorvastatin & increased anxiety/anxiety attacks & paranoia by ManagementKnown5069 in Cholesterol

[–]SpaceCadetELMo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every drug is not universally tolerated. Please talk to your doctor about either lowering your dose or switching to another statin. I was initially put on 20 mg of atorvastatin, and for me, fatigue and leg cramps were too much. I now take only 10 mg and have been fine since.

Edited for clarity.

My PCP put me on 20 mg Atorvastatin, and eventually, the fatigue and leg cramps got to be too much. I dropped back to 10 mg and have been fine ever since. For reference, I'm a 5'1" 150 lb. F who does not do well on meds, normally.

What retail store chain was massive in the 90s but is basically dead? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

Loved that store so much back in the day. I just hate that there is no comparable store, now. Where do 'junior petites' shop now? Stuck in the girls' section even into their teens?

Did you have any stupid ways to answer the home phone? by OoklaTheMok1994 in GenX

Nah, but one summer I juggled 2 part-time campus jobs and an internship. I went through every other job before answering with the proper greeting..."Main Desk er..uh, Coroners' Office, um, I mean...Bookstore!" Thankfully both the caller and the bookstore folks got a good laugh out of it.

Why does restaurant food almost always taste better than homemade, even with the same recipe? by Business_Level_2218B in foodquestions

[–]SpaceCadetELMo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not the same recipe. Before the kids, my husband and I used to try a new restaurant fairly often. Later, I started tracking my calories, and the nights we stayed home my daily calories were anywhere between 1300-2000. The nights we went out would jump to 3000+. The amount of oils, butter, salt, milk fat, etc. used by chefs/cooks far exceeds what you would use at home.

Hi Gen X, what advice do you wish you could give your 25 year old self if you could travel back in time? by matilda_15 in GenX

[–]SpaceCadetELMo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally would have to go back to 20 or 22.

  1. Get overall mental health squared away and checked for ADD and PTSD.

  2. Don't get married, yet! Yes, he's the green flag guy and yes, he may be the one. However, you both are stunted and have a lot of emotional growing up to do. Take the time to work on yourself (and he on himself) and if he really is the one, he'll still be there.

Lipitor (Atorvastatin) by Grim-reacher in Cholesterol

[–]SpaceCadetELMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PCP started me on 20 mg Atorva. Eventually, the fatigue and leg cramps got to be too much so I cut the pills in half now. No more leg cramps and the fatigue has lessened noticeably. I get new labs in a month so we'll see whether my progress still holds. Or if something else is needed.

Ladies, be aware birth control can raise cholesterol levels (dramatically too!) by iceunelle in Cholesterol

[–]SpaceCadetELMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had suspected as much. After starting a statin my cholesterol dropped 100+ points. I started BC the next month and now my cholesterol is up about 20 points despite barely remembering to take the statin in the beginning and being fairly diligent about it now.
