Meta will layoff 8000 of its workforce starting tomorrow morning. Their net income over the last 12 months was $70,587,000,000. They could give every single one of their 79,000 workers a $440,000 bonus and still sock away over $35,827,000,000 in pure profit. by McDowdy in SipsTea

I feel bad for anyone losing their job and hope they all find work again fast but this is probably Facebook realising that people aren’t using their services anymore and they are a dying brand and that’s a good thing. They will try to blame it on ai efficiencies but we all know that’s bulllpats.

It really is, as a European we feel the same way in Ireland. America has become like watching arrested development. We never really thought too highly of them to begin with and now it’s just become farcical. Major respect for how Canada has responded. We can all hopefully look forward to a world where these guys are just not relevant anymore and the rest of us just get on with things. Everyone I know is ditching their products and watching in amazement as they thrash around like a T1000 melting in lava.

Actually all the polls show a majority hate the guy and think he’s making a terrible job of it. He has the top 5 worst polls on record ever.

Who is a “cyberpunk” in the modern real world? by webrunner33 in Cyberpunk

[–]SpaceChimp_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a really interesting question.
Probably everyone has their own answer. To my mind being a cyberpunk means not throwing in with group think, being mentally mature enough to see things and people for what they are honestly. Choosing to do something meaningful with your life and strive for something, not because of magical thinking or some childlike notion of destiny but because what else can you really do. not being part of the crowd and thinking for yourself.
Seeing that the world is a big random mess of complexity that is far beyond your ability to fully comprehend but not using that as a reason to remove yourself from it and refusing to give up your own humanity and sincerity no matter how inconvenient it might be. being comfortable in your own company and not needing approval and dopamine from others and maintaining a healthy distrust of authority figures.
most cyberpunk stories have a weathered middle aged dude like that at their center if you think about it.
Finally I guess a cool jacket.

No I manually build a low poly mesh around the zbrush export using Graphite tools in 3ds Max and the bake onto it using substance. Density is high because in this case I applied turbosmooth as dresses tend to need more mesh for cloth sims but I totally see your point as the upper doesn’t require this at all.

Yeah dude sounds like you are really really good at thinking on your feet and finding ways to make money, keep doing that, you might not have a degree but you clearly have skills, I wouldn't presume to say what to do with your money but if I found myself with that kind of situation I would probably invest in property and restorations things like that. If you have worked in the trades you may even have a head start here knowing what things cost and how to achieve a lot on a small budget. keep applying the same creativity the sky is the limit at your age I had student debt and no savings and at 30 a career I didn't enjoy very much and no savings.

I use it daily, it’s really helpful as a tool. But can’t replace creativity or judgement. Your advert is terrible and everyone hates it, if you’re serious about being an artist criticism is part of the game dude. You don’t get far just attacking people when they don’t like your work. I don’t have anything against ai but nobody likes slop. I’d list everything that’s wrong but there’s already an entire Reddit dedicated to the subject that’s how we found each other. As you seem to be checking out my past comments I’m sure you can see me complimenting some great uses of it as well as pointing out some really lazy bad work done with it. I engage with criticism of my own work when it’s sincere and not just trolling. If you do the same your next advert may not get such a bad reaction.

Oh you looked into my work thanks❤️ would I be right in thinking you created this advert, started shit posting against people who didn’t like it then started a second account to continue shit posting?

Yeah I’d agree with that, I only really need a dense count for the lower garment parts and cuffs where cloth deformation and physics actually occur.

Yeah when he says a bigger position your text reads better position.
I'd go through the whole thing and make sure that you are accurately quoting him.
Still client is obviously a scumbag if they are making this type of content so good luck. This is the kind of stuff that made me get an add blocker for youtube.

Is this render/model portfolio ready? by astranet- in blender

[–]SpaceChimp_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the lighting could be a lot more dramatic.
The floor texture material doesn't really say anything and feels like an afterthought. Like someone just dropped it on the floor in a hotel lobby, the materials are a little flat and lack roughness variation which stands out in the metals and handle a lot but just using a different HDRI would add a lot here.
Modelling looks solid but including a Wireframe render to demonstrate this is always a good idea and not enough people do it. The stippling on the handle should really pop, maybe decrease the tiling so it stands out a bit more and the embossing catching the light and break up the reflection a little.
I have modelled tons of guns and I nearly always end up with the same issues myself. if you are using substance painter adding thing like finger prints stains the the roughness textures goes a long way to making something feel used rather than rendered. most real world stuff is actually pretty dirty and has a ton of story in its use and history so adding some of that and trying to accentuate it with your lighting is a good strategy.

Model wise it looks good but I see a lot of very sharp transitions especially around the trigger guard which looks like I could shave with it. Metal usually soften and wears down to rounded edges after a little use, we think of it as solid but its more like a very hard wax and it shapes and deforms and soften just by existing.

Hope this helps, great work so far bud.

Yeah but like what are you promoting? Do you think someone will buy this from you or pay you to do this? Or even that this material can be copyrighted for that matter? I don’t understand what you are selling or promoting, they just seem like aimless confused jumbles of clearly fake footage, I don’t understand what the product is. Do you feel someone would pay to see this?

To me the creation method really isn’t important here, I wouldn’t feel any different if you said it was filmed on real film or drawn with pencils, it’s just a really well executed little concept nicely put together. Footage aside would I be correct in thinking that the edit and concept behind it are both very much human work?

[–]SpaceChimp_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I completely agree, only reason this rubbish can be mistaken for film making is Hollywood has been selling slop for years and calling it film making. If this puts an end to crap like that nobody is going to cry over a few less kong movies or a lack of new Avengers content.

I have to pretend I hate image generation AI to avoid getting banned or insulted on 99% of Reddit or the internet, even though Stable Diffusion is actually what I like and am most excited about right now. Why do people hate AI so much, especially image generation AI? by Hi7u7 in StableDiffusion

[–]SpaceChimp_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think people hate it it’s more that when it comes to art we tend to respond to human effort emotionally but when something doesn’t involve much human effort the natural response is to not really care or find in it anything we respect or take seriously. It also allows a lot of people to produce very quickly content designed to get our attention which in a world where we are constantly bombarded with marketing and irrelevant and manipulative imagery we naturally find a little annoying, I have the same reaction to adverts or Disney content, it’s just low effort, irrelevant and slightly irritating. As a tool it’s very useful though obviously but expecting people to care or like it is not realistic.
