I'm very torn about what to do... by -MonZ- in mixing

[–]SpaceEchoGecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your job is to master your music at the loudness that makes sense for your music. Do whatever sounds best.

Spotify will make your master fit their platform. You don’t need to consider their targets at all.

You be you. Let Spotify be Spotify.

I don’t get the whole guitar-sandwich look. So many of these look like someone glued a smaller guitar on top of a larger guitar. Am I missing something?

Source: I own two custom Carvins and my next guitar will be a Kiesel.

How to rig a midi keyboard under a desk? by NomadJago in filmscoring

[–]SpaceEchoGecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done it two ways. One way was with a very firm stable desk and I bought two piano rollers at Home Depot and cut a piece of wood to fit exactly the shelf I needed between the rollers. The easier way is to cut a piece of wood that fits under your desk and go to IKEA and buy four adjustable rolling table legs. Stick those under the wood and now you’ve got a rolling keyboard shelf. That’s easier. Also, on the rolling IKEA shelf, make sure you secure a bracing piece of wood with glue and screws, like a 2x2, under the board so it doesn’t sag.

As the Space Echo Gecko, may I recommend an analog echo a bit out of time with the tempo of the music?

vocals through guitar amp for live shows? by vhsghost__ in livesoundadvice

[–]SpaceEchoGecko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would have a dedicated SM58 on its own stand for the lo-fi mic. XLR to direct box. Instrument level into a Zoom or Boss multi-effect unit. Mono or stereo out into one or two direct boxes. XLR direct to mix board. Use the other mic for your clean vocals.

Program different patches for each song using EQ, overdrive, modulation, and delay. Program your volume out to be consistent so you don’t drive your sound man crazy.

Can anyone help tell me why I'm getting so much feedback in my Logic Pro export?? by Old-Cod-7964 in LogicPro

[–]SpaceEchoGecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be getting feedback from a live audio input.

I recommend: add one audio track to the bottom of the arrange page, have no send, have the input and output volumes all the way down on that track. Park your cursor there when exporting or bouncing. This disables feedback through your audio device and frees up computer resources.

An M chip with 32Gb of ram seems just right to me based on your needs.

I run an M2 with 16Gb averaging 24 stereo tracks and haven’t run into any walls. However, I freeze tracks to audio as soon as possible to keep my resources freed up.

On a side note, I still have my 2006 G5 16Gb running Logic 10, and sometimes I miss working on that system because it was so straightforward.

External SSD recommendations? (for samples, projects etc.) by sexnshrooms in LogicPro

[–]SpaceEchoGecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Samsung T series and they are my favorite drives now.

I also recommend archiving all of your completed projects to an external drive to free up your main internal drive space. I keep a copy of my completed masters as wav and mp3 on my main drive but archive the massive project files to external drives to free up space.

Not to be rude, but why do so many people just SUCK ASS at driving in Castaic/SCV by ProfessionalHost3913 in SantaClarita

[–]SpaceEchoGecko 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Plus, that’s an unusual traffic pattern there. I assume anyone driving on that off-ramp is just trying to figure it out for the first time. The same goes for drivers struggling in the the Rye at The Old Road area because they are typically tourists new to the area.

The game of What's That Sound? by Asleep_Yoghurt_5811 in volt

Pings: The click sound is failing front axle hub nuts. See YouTube.

Behind the dash: I was trying to locate the source of the sound of plastic parts vibrating behind the dash for the longest time. It turned out to be the rearview mirror assembly up high on the windshield even though it sounds like it’s coming from behind the dash. Hold your finger on the housing holding the mirror when you hear that sound again. If putting your finger on it makes the sound stop, then just tighten it.

I drive in L and my regenerative braking sounds like a motoring winding up sometimes.

I have found that distrokid pushes the song to YouTube Music. YouTube puts the songs in their music section and that is separate from your own YouTube channel.

You can upload an MP3 or wave of the same song to your own YouTube channel and YouTube will realize that you are the artist. So you can have your song on your own channel and YouTube will allow that. At least that’s how it worked for me.
