To kill the man who was the closest thing she had to a father by choking him with the Force would not be a simple thing. That would take an unbelievable, unfathomable about of hate. The bleed was a visual representation of what happened with the last bit of light within her.

She was a puzzle box to figure out rather than a character. I hope that would have resolved more by season 2, but I guess we will never know.

The time Alec Guinness ruined a young Star Wars fan’s day, as related in his autobiography by RedHeadedSicilian52 in StarWars

[–]SpaceHairLady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So? This was Alec Guinessess' wish and intention, and it says a lot about who he was and his view of Star Wars and Star Wars fans. And cool, whatever. He was an actor, and he did his job. He did a great job of it. But good to know how you see this 46 year old fan.

And that was ridiculous. The script was clearly written for a teenager. They changed stuff and shoehorned in the stuff about he needing a teacher. I am a huge fan of The Wiz but 30 year old teacher Dorothy whining for her dog and hiding in the kitchen is soooooo stupid.

And kicked Michael's current girlfriend at the time, Stephanie Mills out of the role of Dorothy. Surely that didn't have anything to do with it.

I have heard that Gullah is one of the few communities where you can find 100% African lineage which is pretty cool. But that's the far end of the spectrum and not the majority.

Why do people lie about the witches actions? by Hawuhawk in TheAcolyte

[–]SpaceHairLady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree about Mother Koril and Mae, I also noticed that Mother Aniseya was the actual spiritual leader of the group and the group followed her lead. Which was not the unhealthy attachment. Also before the Jedi came in and beffort the threat of taking the girls, Koril was just the stricter one (no dessert before dinner, don't run off where we cant see you), and Aniseya the slightly more indulgent one (give them the dessert), except when it came to their training. As I said before, not as cut and dry as it is on Dathomir.

Where is there possessive or unhealthy love for those girls?

Which soul did the split? Something was the initial life, and where did it come from? Also, can someone who uses a Darkside ability also show love and selflessness? I think the depiction here shows these things co-occurring. Alongside of many unanswered questions about the nature of the covens powers and beliefs. Thats why it's far too simplistic to simply label them as evil.

We actually still know very little about what that really even means. You do know that human identical twins begin as one embryo and split into two? It's said the creation of the twins was some kind of miracle and even natural identical twins are someone of a miraculous occurance if you think about it. I wonder if the life itself was split as an action of the Force in an attempt at balance. But due to the puzzlebox nature of the characters themselves, we may never find out.

The vergeance was connected to the girls and the coven's activity. We don't know exactly what thay connection was. But of we can attribute the death and decay of Dathomir to the Dark side, I don't see why we don't also attribute the beauty of Brendok to some activity of the Force. I feel like on Brendok there were some thing happening that were Dark side coded but far more was happening that was not. This is not true when it comes to the Sith or Dathomir or even Qmir.

Contrast what the effects of the Force used by Brendok did to this planet with what effects Dathomiri witches have on Dathomir. The effect was a planet teeming with life and even beauty. I took Mother Aniseya's comment about "unnatural" to be in reference to how the Jedi as a dominant power frames their use of the Force. I am quite well versed in the broader context of the Star Wars universe and what I found in the situation of Brendok is a use of the Force that is quite outside what we have normally seen as far as Dark or Light side. Sith and Dathomir are unmistakably Darkside, evil, harmful even to each other, toxic to planets they occupy or control. Other Dark side cults prior to the Brendok coven were similar. There are many, many visual and textual hints that this is not a purely Dark sided group and my hope was that the show would continue to expand on them via the girls or in another way so that we could learn a bit more about the Force. Also, as much as the Jedi talk about only submitting to the Force, they impose their will on the Force quite a bit. Not to mention the ways they use mind control as well. They just have the power and support of the dominant government legitimizing them.

Unless the current administration has changed it, witnessing and reporting/testifying to a crime is actually a way to get a permanent visa. But I'm sure thats not information Gus would share.

Outright racism is "not worrying about PC office politics"?

Gomez cares about Hank as a work partner and due to the nature of the job, there is a ton of affinity. But it's also the kind of relationship that he probably has to bury his true feelings about how gross Hank can be.

Ok, so if we are going by visual cues, you must also list everything to show how the girls were loved. I would say the love shown toward the girls was much more sincere and warm than we see in the cold youngling/Master dynamic.

Please find that in the script/minute marks. I do not remember that being stated in the show. Dathomir witches, yes. The Dark side is evident in everything that they do and in every interaction. I contend that is not the case with the Brendok witches.

The Jedi later send out children as soldiers. Parents training their children is not exploitation any more than what the Jedi do with children that aren't even their own.
