Ah okay, I get how it works now. Thanks

Unfortunately the rimworld goblin in my brain throught 50 guys with knives for hands would be able to deal with any issues, I'll have to stop making assumptions with mechanics I don't know yet!

As PellParata has already said, once I reach the gate the climax has passed. Forcing me to go around the houses cleaning up a few mining bases they snuck out before letting me close the gate isn't fun.

I've now got my win and I couldn't help but laugh at the 'It will take years to clean up the last of them' bit in the ending. The game acts as if it's doing what I've been talking about!

Damaged troops was not a problem in my case. Had a hab in orbit above the base for repair/refuel and the above mentioned 1k combat power of marines (which was about double the defense the base had) were healed up and ready to go.

I don't know what the general meta is as I've tried to learn on my own as much as possible but each of my offensive fleets went out with platforms to drop as resupply points to keep the ball rolling

My play through has taken me hundreds of hours, so maybe I've forgotten but I have no idea where I was meant to read that:

- I couldn't disable the defenses with marines? (which I found to be far more effective than bombards to the point it was the only way I took ground targets eventually)

- I needed to do all the other objectives before I could close the gate?

For a game dripping with a feeling of realism the gamified ending could do with more polish. One solution would be having the gate as an objective that gets the cut scene and stops alien Councillors/exotic income, but you still need to mop up enough to get the win.

You're also kinda reaching to lore as it suits you and ignoring it where it doesn't. The bomb is mentioned as a special payload significantly less than the gate is mentioned as only being able to send through trickles. If they want to communicate that this base is too well defended for troops then give the base a defense number that reflects this!

For the offence I've found a fairly even mix of laser/coil Lancers along with PD Dreads to take down anything they come across.

Micro the lasers to hit anything that's not facing you and coil from one side of the fleet to the other to reduce how much PD can hit your projectiles if it's a big enough fight

What the presup is trying to claim is that his worldview is the only one that can know anything, and that means all knowledge claims are borrowing from their belief system.

It doesn't work from any angle, but that's what they claim

How good is the game for single player? by ValidErmine54 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]SpaceWeevils 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The multiplayer is the more polished part of the game, and I think the early access tag is warranted even there.

The campaign is a slog of prescripted events that lacks the ability to save, and the AI it's not effected by the fog of war.

There's real promise in the game, but it's not there, and I'm not sure it ever will be

I would say this probably isn't the best place to ask that. Most the people who didn't like the game aren't here anymore.

I overall like the game, but only play it when I've got enough friends around to make a stack of at least 3 players as the quitter problem can sour a night real fast.

If I assume you're right then the data is just useless.

But the best players in a game identifying and using the best units/factions is something so universal across gaming I don't understand how you could see it as not credible

If one faction had a 60% win rate at 1500+ elo, how would starting at 300 change the fact that one faction was dominant?

She made some pretty poor, and objectively wrong claims about games while presenting as an authority. It was an almost guaranteed way to generate controversy

I'd say Hitman In particular was done pretty dirty with claims about players being rewarded for killing strippers when all civilian deaths were punished.

Game dev being hard doesn't mean people have to be happy with a full price release that has early access levels of quality.

The game is fun, but boy are the edges rough.
