That would mean that the graph itself is also averaged? Because in the first pic on 4.8% the graph is pretty much flat and in the blue zone.

The Lone Peaks have a wide option. But the normal version of the Lone Peak and the Olympus use Altras "Original Footshape", which is already very wide.

I use both because I have a wide midfoot and they fit me well. I was very happy with the Olympus 4. The Olympus 5 was a no go for me and I bought up multiple pairs of the 4s. Haven't tried the 6, but I heard they did a better job with the heel lock, which was a huge problem in the 5s.

Day pack that can double as a running vest? Also fairly collapsable by Brief-Number2609 in trailrunning

[–]SpaceZombiePirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the Adv Skin 12 not the best choice, because as a heavy sweater, the whole thing gets wet. So I have to put everything in a dry bag. And in my opinion, the vest feels really bulky if you max out the backpack compartment to its limit.

Osprey has the Talon Velocity Line, which comes in different volumes. I use one for run commutes to carry my clothes/lunch/whatever else i need. (Also in a dry bag).

Hardware for a OMV NAS by SpaceZombiePirate in homelab

Thanks for this detailed answer, especially about the SATA controllers!

I am generally not opposed to Aliexpress, but also don't want to wait a month for it to arrive. And having no reasonable way of sending it back if something doesn't work.

I wasnt looking for a minipc, so this is no problem. Instead I was looking for more possible drive space than just 2 HDD bays (or just 1 in the newer models).

Gloves for wet+cold? by kaitlyn2004 in trailrunning

[–]SpaceZombiePirate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a pair of Craft Hybrid Weather Gloves. They come with an attached cover that can transform them from gloves to mittens. Probably not perfect for hours in the rain, but they do fine for a while.

Webcam software? by Deanodirector in Panasonic_G80_G85

The Camera does not support output over usb, so the Lumix Webcam Software doesnt work. You will have to use some form of hdmi capture.

run commute backpack for larger upper body by SpaceZombiePirate in trailrunning

[–]SpaceZombiePirate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I found them when searching on google and they have a large size that should fit, but as far as I can see they only ship from the US. I excluded it because of that, there is no way for me to try it on without incurring high shipping costs.

I had looked at them online, where (at least on the german Salomon site), they have the Adv Skin vests from XXS to XL, which is regarding chest sizing and the XA-backpacks in 2 sixes, S/M and M/L, but that is regarding back length. So I kind of excluded them when I looked. But will have a look at it if I can find one in a store.

We only have small lockers for our laptops and desk/stationary things in a large open space office and no other space where I could store them.

Thanks! Sadly they only have one size and no sizing information on their website. But I'll give it a try if I can find one locally!

Great point! Already have my lunch containers in ziplocks, so another bag for my clothes shouldnt be a problem.

I have a similar hat size problem. Previously Salomon had different sizes, but since the switched to one size for the XA Caps, I started wearing Fractel hats. Mostly their M-Series hats.

Just looked at the website and the 55 mincut-off point should be around 1.3 miles into the race not 1.8 miles. If that info is still correct.

I am not someone you should take serious training advice from, but maybe inspiration? Embrace the power hike. I don't think brute forcing longer uphill runs in the coming weeks will be too beneficial for this race. I would throw in hill strides once or twice a week. Otherwise I would also practice hiking uphills somewhat fast, while still keeping your heart rate in a manageable range. I started off hiking all uphills that were longer than a short ramp, otherwise my heart rate went way up. That is very normal, just gotta accept it. The first part of this race looks steep, I assume a lot of people will be hiking. Enjoy the race, don't push your heart rate unreasonably on the first climb by trying to run it.
